This year's conference explored the challenges, strategies, implementations and the ongoing outcomes of corporate organisations navigating doing business in countries where the working environments present differences in culture, practices and expectations.
Two of the more popular presentations were:
- Treasury Spotlight - Doing Business in Brazil: Rafeal Matos, Corporate Banker with JP Morgan in Brazil was the guest speaker. Brazil has just been through a very polarised presidential runoff - what is the outlook for the country with the new president's mandate starting in January 2019
- Treasury Spotlight - Doing Business in Russia: Mark Bonham, Head of Risk & Compliance with Optal Financial Europe was the guest speaker and focused on a case study regarding a Russian business opportunity and investment with its KYC challenges. He also talked about sanctions, AML, UBO risks, politics, regulatory issues and murder!
There were more than a dozen high level sessions on key treasury issues as well as planning scenarios others are doing to cope with geopolitical risks, technological changes and related cyber risks.
Other presentations included new fintechs - how are they changing how treasurers make payments and engage in supply chain.
Congratulations to Marjolaine Bossard, International Treasurer with Sodexo who was the lucky winner of the Brightwater prize draw and received a Brown Thomas voucher and a bottle of champagne!
