11th January 2012: Knock aiport sees 11% jump in passenger numbers

 

 

Ireland West Airport celebrated its busiest year to date with passenger numbers rising by 11%.

The airport in Knock saw an increase of 65,000 tourists and with Ryanair opening new routes to a number of European destinations, airport chief are confident of further improvements.

Joe Gilmore, MD of Ireland West Airport, was thrilled with the increase in business the airport had received.

Gilmore said: “Whilst it was our busiest year ever, without doubt, 2012 will be a challenge for everyone in the region.”

More tourism spending is expected to be generated with the addition of services to European cities such as Barcelona, Dusseldorf and Milan.
