21 January 2010: Addiction centre in County Wicklow provides jobs boost
A new centre for addiction that has been launched at County Wicklow will create up to 30 jobs. Promis, which already has clinics based in the UK, France, Holland, Spain and Switzerland, has been running for 25 years, in which time it has treated over 5,000 people, Inside Ireland reported.
Located at the bottom of the Wicklow Mountains, the clinic will provide rehabilitation and detoxification treatment programmes. Speaking at the launch, founder of Promis Robin Lefever said: "Our clinic is designed for individuals or their families who find themselves in crisis or on the verge of crisis because of addiction."
Promis is a family-run clinic whose services include detox, intervention, aftercare, primary care and counselling. This week County Wicklow was also revealed as one of the locations that film director Steven Soderbergh's new movie Knockout will be filmed. Due to begin shooting next month, scenes will also be filmed at Dublin Docklands, Dublin Airport and the Shelbourne Hotel.
