Brightwater Executive has been exclusively retained in the search for the newly created position of Senior Manager - European Tax for a global, Fortune 500 retail and distribution business.  

About the Position

This new role will support significant tax planning initiatives for all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations.  In this role, you will be responsible for European tax compliance, country- specific reporting and associated regulatory requirements such as effective tax rate, management and statutory reporting, intercompany debt and planning, Indirect Tax and organisational structure

Key Responsibilities 

•    Assist in the Implementation of the organisation's tax strategy optimising tax planning while ensuring compliance with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations
•    Collaboratively engage across multiple business functional groups including Operations, Finance and Tax
•    Advise management on tax matters and the potential impact of laws and regulations to the
•    organisation’s operational activities
•    Maintain and build ongoing relationships with external consultants and advisors to ensure the organisation maintains best in class standards
•    Manage European tax reporting and compliance; coordinate audits; liaise with relevant tax authorities
•    Develop reporting solutions or scenario models for reporting and analytics
•    Ability to design and implement internal controls for tax related processes
•    Support US compliance needs and statutory tax return preparation
•    Transfer pricing support regarding management fees, royalty arrangements and other cross‐border related activities
•    Monitor and evaluate the consequences of changes in international law applicable to the business
•    Support merger and acquisition activities


•    Bachelor's degree in Finance or related subject
•    CTA qualification or similar with 5 years’ post qualification experience within a large Tax or Advisory organisation or listed / multinational environment
•    Demonstrable, in depth understanding of internal controls, documentation, and testing procedures
•    Strong understanding of financial accounting and economic related concepts
•    Working knowledge of U.S./Foreign tax laws and transfer pricing concepts
•    Effective written communication and time management skills
•    Pragmatic based approach to maintaining multiple work streams across numerous groups in a collaborative team‐based environment

Remuneration Package

€90,000 - €115,000 + competitive benefits
