About the Company:

Our client, a registered charity, supporting people through nationwide Resource Centres are currently recruiting for a Director of Community and Commercial Services.

About the Position:

This is a brand new position and will form part of the senior management team providing both strategic and operational leadership to contribute to the overall success of the organisation.

Experience in not for profit sector, charity or healthcare sector is essential for this role. This role will also require:

  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Passion for great customer service.
  • An ability to develop, implement and oversee good systems, processes, and procedures that delivery high quality services.
Great communication skills to ensure each location and head office are well connected

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Community & Commercial Services will have three direct reports and have overall responsibility for approximately 40 staff and 12 resource centres.

Effective Planning, Development and Delivery of Community & Commercial Services

  • Plan, develop and direct the organisation’s Community & Commercial Services delivered through our network of Resource Centres and Outreach Clinics around the country, to meet the needs of clients.
  • Develop the provision of both 1:1 and Group support services that are client-led and work to improve the quality of life of our clients.
  • Grow and develop our person-centred Service.
  • Grow and develop our Assistive Technology products and services that are currently offered in the home, community, employment, and education settings.

High Quality & Impactful Services

  • Ensure the Organisation maximises its resources to support as many people as possible.
  • To drive the quality of services provided through service evaluations and clients’ experience initiatives.
  • Lead out in methods of obtaining client feedback and using the feedback to constructively develop the service.
  • Evaluate services to ensure the needs and expectations of clients are met and any unmet demand is assessed and addressed.
  • Develop sales and marketing strategies to ensure the Commercial Services achieve targets and contribute to the financial sustainability of the Organisation.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Positively impact the culture of the Organisation to further develop staff engagement.
  • Oversee the work and performance of Direct Reports and approximately 40 staff in total, across multiple locations through effective 1:1 relationship, regular performance reviews and team meetings.
  • Manage the Training & Development requirements for all staff.  

Other Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the overall strategic leadership of the Organisation.
  • Drive the Organisation forward through the implementation of Key Performance Indicators and the provision of accurate and timely information and reports as required.
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met  
  • Ensure the organisation seeks to provide a value for money and effective service offering to stakeholders and oversee the financial performance of each location.
  • Develop financial plans, budgets, and business cases as required including achievement of funding goals where required.
  • Preparation of funding applications where required to Statutory and Non-Statutory bodies.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • A relevant third level qualification
  • People management experience
  • Experience of delivery-focused leadership of front line management
  • Experience of drafting, implementing and advising on policies and procedures and operational best practice.
  • Experience of providing operational support in a multi-site organisation is desirable.

Remuneration Package:

€70,000 - €80,000
