My client, a large indigenous retail business with an award winning culture and working environment now has a requirement for a dynamic Head of PMO as they embark on an exciting strategy and programme of change.  

About the Position

The Head of PMO will be responsible for the governance and delivery of high quality business change programmes with IT at their core. This programme of work will include technology change, business process redesign, and data driven projects all designed to deliver business value and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will report directly to the CIO and will oversee all aspects of successful delivery of business change programs including scheduling, planning, resourcing, pricing, build, testing and business deployment. You will report progress to all relevant stakeholders ensuring all master plans and schedules are developed and followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and developing a high performing team through strong objectives-setting and review practices.
  • Governance, which involves working with the over-arching structure, processes and procedures of the company to accomplish objectives.
  • Ensure goals and objectives from business strategy flow through to successful completion of projects
  • Define checks and balances for compliance with standards and vision alignment
  • Conduct regular reviews with your team members for accountability and successful management of projects, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Gain knowledge of IT platforms and business processes and how they fit together for program success
  • Own Budget and cost management across the program of work
  • Stakeholder management in conjunction with BRM resources, make sure your relationships and communication to stakeholders is always excellent.
  • Working with your colleagues in IT to ensure any new processes and systems are robust before they are handed over, in agreement, to the Service Delivery team for ongoing support.

Experience/Requirements

  • Excellent team management and people development skills
  • Proven track record of delivering business change and IT/Digital programmes and projects, large and small, on time and on budget
  • Business facing skills incorporating significant commercial experience
  • A recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Strong relationship builder, who has the ability to foster and manage productive relationships with early career people, and senior executive level sponsors
  • Ability to create a sense of belonging and accountability among team members; ability to identify and assist in assembling a team with the right mix of skills; promoting mutual support and interaction
  • Strategic thinker and experience in delivering enterprise level strategic programs
  • Retail experience is a distinct advantage
