About the Position

The Cost Accountant – GR/IR Coordinator is a member of the broader Cost Business Process Center team, which provides technical support and consultation for the Company’s cost accounting and fixed assets teams, liaising with Information Technology team for system issues, enhancements, and business process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and consultation for all issues, inquiries, changes, and enhancements relating to cost accounting processes within SAP ECC / S/4 HANA.
  • The primary role for this position is the global support for SAP processes for GR/IR:
  • 1Perform weekly review of purchase order imbalances for North America and European regions, and follow up with relevant personnel (Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Plant team, etc.) as needed.
  • For items exceeding aging thresholds, clear open items on GR/IR accounts (including obtaining proper stakeholder authorization as necessary).
  • Monitor weekly GR/IR auto-clearing jobs scheduled within SAP ECC / S/4 HANA for failures.
  • Support and troubleshooting all GR/IR clearing processes. 
  • Cross functional error resolution 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for various cost accounting objects, particularly Purchase Orders, Internal Orders, Refurbishment Orders, Maintenance Orders. 
  • Ensure GR/IR accounting work process documentation is up to date.
  • Provide technical support and consultation for various issues, inquiries, changes, and enhancements relating to cost accounting and cost process reporting processes within SAP and BW. 
  • Involvement in wide variety of Controllers/ Finance initiatives, including process improvement projects, cross-functional project teams, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, as needed, as it relates to cost accounting system requirements and other technical topics.
  • Ensure effective internal controls in all areas of responsibility. 
  • Seek opportunities to standardize processes to drive efficiencies.


Minimum Education required
  • 4-5 years’ experience in a relevant Finance role  
  • Previous cost accounting and/or operational experience
  • Experience in industrial chemicals or manufacturing preferred  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency using SAP ECC and/or S/4 HANA and other technology and systems
  • Ability to create and modify macros and scripts (includes VBA/VBM) and databases (SQL, Access) is a plus
  • Strong enterprise business acumen, knowledge and understanding of work processes performed by Finance 
  • Experience in designing, documenting, implementing, and improving work processes 
  • Strong project management skills  
  • Innovative 
  • Exceptional interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills 
  • Ability to demonstrate value to, quickly establish trust from and form relationships with individuals and teams 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 
  • Read, write and speak English
  • Solid comprehension of internal control
