Indirect Tax Technology Lead - FBPC004

About the Position

The Indirect Tax Business Process Lead is accountable to ensure the Indirect Tax work process requirements are met in the ERP system designs by building, testing and implementing the appropriate solutions as well as providing level 1 issue resolution support.

This key role ensures that Indirect Tax requirements from cross functional business processes are properly and accurately represented in the various indirect tax solutions. This role will require significant coordination with broader indirect tax accounting and compliance team, IT, Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay, and Master Data teams, as well as require the day-to-day management of 3rd party outsourcing relationship for the handling of level 2 and 3 issues resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide business process optimization and support of Trinseo’s Indirect Tax activities, systems, and processes, in particular, VAT, Sales and Use Tax, and WHT.
  • Work with IT department to manage the interface from the Company’s ERP to the external rate determination software (OneSource Indirect Tax Determination engine) and other e-invoicing / reporting tools.
  • Understand the regional work processes that trigger Indirect tax determination, like Purchasing, Planning and Order to Cash. Analyze existing business and system processes to ensure that the business logic and relevant indirect tax-related codes being applied properly reflect those work processes.  Ensure existing process documentation accurately reflects this understanding, and that ongoing issues are flagged and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Financial & Statutory and Indirect Tax accounting teams, as well as IT team to monitor ever-changing governmental reporting requirements related to indirect tax as well as e-invoicing and other reporting standards, and plan and implement the corresponding system changes, contracting and managing 3rd party software vendors / service providers, to ensure continued compliance with these requirements, often with very tight deadlines.
  • Manage Trinseo's relationships with key 3rd party service and software providers, as well as corresponding contract, budget, and invoicing matters.

Experience/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology and Management
  • Minimum Experience (years and type):
  • 8-10 years of experience
  • Experience with SAP/S4 tax design and configuration
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, including configuration, testing and documentation of tax designs
  • Experience in tax reporting and compliance, including business process design and configuration of tax reporting variants
