Family Law Solicitor (2-3 years PQE)

About the Company;

Our client, a private practice based in Cork has an opening in their team for a Family law/Child Law solicitor to join them on a permanent basis.

About the Position

This role offers a great opportunity to a candidate who wants to develop their expertise in the field of Family Law and Child Law.

Key Responsibilities;

  • This is a highly focused practice, Our Family Law Department presently comprises one partner and one assistant solicitor.
  • This new second assistant solicitor will be directly managed and supported by a Partner.
  • We are expanding the Department in order to service the rapid growth in our Family Law and Child Law clientele over the past two years.

  • Candidate will need at least two years’ post enrolment experience of Family Law and/or Child Law. District Court experience is essential.
  • Candidate should enjoy advocacy work at District Court level – i.e., without Counsel. (Note that unlike Dublin District Court, Counsel is rarely engaged in Cork District Court where the solicitors are the advocates).
  • Circuit Court and High Court experience are desirable.
  • Candidate must be comfortable with both in person and remote Court hearings.
  • Candidate needs to be enthusiastic about their work and must have the empathy, insight and professional skills necessary to provide an excellent service to our clients.
  • Child law experience* is not essential but would be an advantage. (*e.g. acting for guardians ad litem, for children, for foster parents, for parents).
  • Candidate should be willing to learn about and take on some Child law work – we will support and train candidates who have no experience of Child law.
  • A full driving licence and ideally access to a car is not essential but would be an advantage, as some of the Courts we work in are outside Cork city.
