About the Company

Our Client is Ireland’s national regulated water utility. They are a commercial semi-state company and directly employ over 1,600 people who deliver water services to 1.7 million customers daily.

About the Position

The successful candidate will report directly to the Alarm and Events Management Specialist. The role has a national responsibility for the effective and efficient 24/7/365 remote monitoring, management and response to alarms. This will include undertaking proactive and reactive activities in support of operational requirements. The Centre operates on a 24/7/365 basis therefore working hours for this role will be on a shift rotation pattern.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the effective, efficient, 24/7/365 monitoring and response to alarms using monitoring, control and reporting systems.
  • Perform line and performance management duties for your assigned team
  • Manage all shift rostering, attendance and cover arrangements for all shift teams
  • Support the development and improvement of alarm management
  • Liaise with all operational Stakeholders to support a proactive understanding and response to operational incidents
  • Escalate key business risks to the Centre managers and all internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and update the Centre risk register, Shift Log and all relevant tools to ensure there is business wide awareness of assets / systems at risk
  • Maximise the benefits of remote monitoring in the operation / optimisation of assets (quality and quantity) and liaise with other internal teams as necessary
  • Complete reviews, report on performance and undertake configuration of alarm / telemetry systems
  • Monitor, interpret and build data, provision of management reports that aid business decision-making and support continuous improvement
  • Monitor and report on all KPI’s
  • Assist in the culture of knowledge and risk management to obtain continuous improvement
  • Ensure all escalation processes and procedures are in place
  • Adhere to all HSQE plans, policies and procedures
  • Carry out any other duties deemed necessary


  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience working within a fast paced organisation preferably in the water/utility/regulated industry sector with an operational background preferable
  • Level 6 qualification in a related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Logistics, Management) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with managerial duties to build an optimum team of high performers
  • Data analysis, interpretation and problem-solving skills and ability to influence stakeholders using relevant data sets
  • Understand the practices and procedures applying to the National Operations Management Centre team and the monitoring of alarms
  • Keen to understand the practices and procedures applying to the National Operations Management Centre team and the monitoring of alarms
  • Knowledge of utility operations, with an operational background desirable, including experience in Water/Wastewater service delivery
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software and SharePoint is essential
  • Firm appreciation of the importance of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work
  • Effective communications skills are essential
  • Ability to work with a team and grow and maintain relations with all stakeholders

Remuneration Package

€56,000- €65,000
24 days annual leave + 2.5 days additional days during the year (Good Friday, Christmas office closure)
Eligible for annual performance-related award
