About the Company

Our client began developing the peatlands of Ireland with the aim to provide economic benefit for Irish Midland communities and employs 1500 people nationally

About the Position

The successful candidate will manage the Safety Management System (SMS) within the Land & Habitats and the Consumer Products Business units to support health and safety compliance and ensure all legal obligations and best practices are identified for all Health and Safety (H&S) issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, support, and enable the improvement of H&S KPI's as per Business Unit requirements
  • Establish a benchmark standard for H&S KPI's and improve KPI performance
  • Act as a champion and leader for H&S within the Land & Habitats Business Unit ensuring any issues are relayed to the relative management teams
  • Collaborate on Health and Safety Initiatives, Programmes, and the Safety Strategy to ensure H&S Compliance and continuous improvement
  • Develop a review system to ensure SMS documentation are continuously up to date.
  • Ensure all accidents are reported, investigated and followed up as per SMS requirements
  • Work with your team and relevant managers to ensure all employees have received mandatory training
  • Ensure all legal obligations and relevant best practices within your sector are identified and communicated effectively to management and the wider Senior Management team in BnM when required.
  • Ensure all inspections are in compliance with the relevant legal and company requirements
  • Confirm that all documentation is in line with legal and company requirements
  • Ensure SOPs are up to date and in line with Company policy
  •  Ensure all internal and external health and safety reporting requirements are complied with and manage any audits to ensure all precautions and recommendations are actioned
  • Continuously maintain personal professional development
  • Lead and Performance Manage your direct report(s) and ensure they receive all necessary training and development


  • Third level qualification in Health & Safety or related discipline
  • 10 years’ experience required with experience of manufacturing industry preferred
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills required
  • Proficient in stakeholder management
  • Full proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite

Remuneration Package

Salary: €66,000 - €83,000 per annum

Annual Leave: 22 days plus 2 concessionary days
