About the Position

 

**Brightwater Executive is retained exclusively for this Commercial Director role**


The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading a highly experienced cross functional team across sales, supply chain and purchasing, in delivering an ambitious and scalable wholesale business plan. The Commercial Director will be working within the Supply Chain & Retail Department and reporting to the MD, Supply Chain & Retail.

Working at the centre of the business the ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and has a resilient approach to dealing with market challenges and changes.


Key Responsibilities 

 
  • Lead, motivate and manage a dynamic and experienced cross functional team to ensure structured engagement with all key suppliers towards achieving necessary  business alignment to deliver Operational, Commercial & Financial KPIs.
  • Ensure effective delivery on sales, working capital and profit targets.
  • Continue to develop and manage solid, long term customer relationships by driving the business to be more customer centric lens, with a finger on the customer and market pulse approach.
  • Accountable for building and shaping an industry leading commercial function with a relentless focus on accelerating bottom line growth and market share gains.
  • Ensure the Uniphar commercial offering is seen as best in class, to future proof and maximise the margin opportunity, for community pharmacy and symbol group members.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to deliver key joint business plan initiatives.
  • Contribute at a senior level to the overall development of the Uniphar wholesale and retail business.
  • Lead, motivate and mentor a cross functional team off over 40 team members, with a range of skills required to execute the business plan. Work cross functionally with the senior Supply Chain & Retail (SCR) leadership team to foster a culture of people growth and success.
  • Identify new growth opportunities to develop the sales pipeline and deliver market share growth.
  • Work with the cross functional teams to develop our customer self-serve and digital capabilities.
  • Responsible for the communication of commercial plans to our sales teams and customers.
  • Manage key projects within the wholesale division. Play a lead role in the development and implementation of continuous improvement/operating model initiatives in line with the overall SCR strategy

 

 

Experience/Requirements 

 
  • A minimum of 8 years of management / senior management level, with strong commercial experience within the pharmacy or wider retail sector markets.
  • Track record in leading teams of 20 plus
  • A natural people manager that brings teams along a growth journey and has a strong focus on collective team goals and achievement with excellent mentoring and influencing skills.
  • A high achiever with determination and drive to succeed.
  • Capable of driving business profitability by working cross functionally
  • Highly adept communicator, strong at planning, along with sound organisation and analytical skills
  • Strong prioritising skills, self-motivated, flexible, adaptable with a great work ethic and a “lead by example” style leader.
  • Retail business degree or equivalent
  • Full clean driving license
