About the Position

The Bank is driving an ambitious, multi-year initiative aimed at building Risk Engine that makes it possible to manage trading and risk in a more holistic manner and to respond more effectively to the changing regulatory landscape. 

At the heart of this transformation a specialised platform, which provides a development framework used by other developers within the bank. 

Some of the key components of the platform include: a globally distributed, object based database (developed in-house); a graph (DAG) based framework to manage object dependencies; a bi-temporal deal model for all financial instruments; a high performance computational grid and a Python based GUI framework.  Rates Risk team leverages these components to build high performance risk engine. 

As a RATES Risk developer, you will be part of a tech team of for achieving the project deliverables for different initiatives in the line of business.  The position demands a high degree of initiative, commitment and technical excellence. The FICC Rates Risk Tech is responsible for developing and maintaining the application for calculating the EOD and intra-day market risk for all the trades managed by Rates LOB.

For this programmer role we are looking for highly motivated and experienced hands-on developers with proven ability writing elegant and maintainable Java and Python code. The member will be working closely with various technology teams and business partners (Middle office, Front office, Business Supervision Officers, Finance) to build out Risk applications for the Rates business

Key Responsibilities

Key tasks include:

 

  • Write high quality Python code to add new features
    • Write highly modular, API driven pluggable code
    • Come up with designs to reduce heavy I/O between networks
    • Maintain the required code and test coverage levels for modules
  • Prototype improvement ideas
    • Support the Quartz user community
    • Internal discussion forums, technical sharing sessions
  • Troubleshooting developer issues etc
  • Work effectively with the global team
    • Develop expertise in the relevant features of Quartz, Rates Risk Applications.
    • Individual contributor with high level ownership and commitment

 

The role would suit applicants that are team players willing to learn quickly, think on their feet and who are keen to take the first step into this wide scale of application development

 

Experience/Requirements

  • Experienced in technical design with a strong background/track record of working with Python, Java, Spring, Unix, Messaging.
  • Strong background/track record of working with Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, debugging skills and enjoys solving complex technical problems.
  • Experience in Capital Markets industry
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Strong understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and working with large data sets
  • Knowledge and experience of SDLC and Agile process
  • Comfortable working in high pressure environment and working to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work closely with other technology teams, business groups including trading, finance, technology and middle office.
  • Desirable: (Not required but advantageous)  
    • Familiarity with Excel including macros.
    • Experienced in working on Financial Risk Management applications.
    • Knowledge of Rates markets and products

 

Remuneration Package

€380 - €550 per day depending on experience.
