Amazing opportunity to join a leading global insurer as their European Claims Governance Lead and to be part of a new team build out within their European Centre of Excellence. Strong background in commercial and / or personal lines claims with expertise in multi- jurisdictional European markets is an advantage

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the claims governance and quality strategies.
  • Ensure governance framework, plans and processes are in line with best practise.
  • Key liaison between UK and European Claims senior management and claims handlers.
  • Lead the support, development and maintenance of their governance strategies.
  • Oversight and reporting on the performance management of the European portfolios including analysis and monitoring of claims trends and the claims controls for their European businesses.
  • Manage the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of governance tools and assurance processes, providing a value -add consultative support to various branch entities and stakeholders.
  • Ensures business compliance with all external legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain oversight of the monthly performance process/meetings undertaken by the Senior Claims team for multi-countries to ensure the overall performance is in line plans.
  • Develop claims management standards, controls, practices and procedures and contribute / present to their Claims Oversight and Executive Committee with summary of claims portfolio performance
  • Develop and execute a training and awareness strategy, implement Compliance training
  • Advise the first line of defence with respect to policies (i.e. their adoption, development, implementation and maintenance), practical guidance, training, relevant controls, and processes for mitigation of risks
  • Conduct an annual claims risk assessment to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements and validate assessment results.
  • Organize and deliver functional projects within the defined scope and timeframe and in accordance with agreed cost and quality targets
  • Participate in project steering committees for projects with no dedicated legal sub project, ensuring that legal requirements and considerations are taken into account

The ideal Candidate for this European Claims Governance Lead Role

  • Ideally 10 years plus experience in P&C, Specialist Lines / Personal Lines Claims Portfolio Management role or within an outsourcing oversight / operational risk role within claims insurance operations.
  • Experience via Freedom of Services / Freedom of Distributions working across international markets
  • Sound knowledge of contractual law and or/experience of third-party oversight – service agreements, due diligence and governance regulatory requirements
  • Risk Management experience desirable
  • Coverage/extra contractual litigation experience with experience in insurance industry
  • Possesses a high and extensive level of legal analysis and knowledge of product and industry
  • Ability to manage and work alongside multiple stakeholders
  • Highly numerate, adept in manage large volumes of data, natural analytical thinker
  • Excellent negotiation, influence, and communication skills
  • Commercially astute with solid understanding of insurance management information (MI) & financial data and how to best use this from a governance, oversight perspective.
  • Strong ability to engage positively with a wide cross-country senior stakeholder group
  • Degree, ACII or Risk related Post Grad Or Equivalent
