ICT Operations Coordinator

About the Company and role

Our client, a leading private secondary school in Dublin 1 is looking to recruit an ICT Operations Coordinator on a fulltime and permanent basis.

 

This is and educational leadership role and therefore the person must be knowledgeable around instructional methods and theory and be committed to using educational research to inform ICT planning.

 

Key objectives:

  • To create and lead on the school’s ICT infrastructure budget/expenditure plan ensuring value for money and best practices are followed.
  • To devise and implement innovative solutions to problems using a range of systems and applications (e.g., internet, email, anti-virus software, communications, WI-FI).
  • Build and effective ICT team representative of teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure a continued improvement in ICT usage. Inclusion of Student leaders as agreed with the Link DP is required in ensuring the voice of the student is reflected on in the planning process.
  • Assume a leadership role in the day-to-day running of the IT department (including PCs and devices in specialist rooms, student laptops, Library, Learning Support, Staff Devices, Admin offices, learning hubs.
  • Proactively secure and review/manage all third-party ICT service provider contracts and Service Level Agreements in collaboration with Operations Manager (including communications/copiers/scanners)

Responsibilities:

The ICT Coordinator will have overall responsibility for the ICT function within the school.

Administration

  • IT Project-implementation and reporting.                                                            
  • Monthly reports and presentations to the subcommittee on day to day and future projections. This includes the provision of key data on progress and development in ICT as part of the Board of Management report.               
  • The annual ICT report is a comprehensive description of progress, achievements and how future challenges are being addressed in the planning and budgeting details.                          
  • Safeguarding, web filtering, communications to staff, students, parents on same
  • Communication with parents and student particularly for onboarding with Colleges Management System, Cashless Campus, iPad, eBooks, Online Store, Acceptable Use Policy, and all IT related Policies
  • Administration of Office 365 and other such third-party system.
  • Ensure excellent communication with the end users. This includes the promotion of suitable ICT aps etc in the staff weekly bulletin and for parents and students in the College Newsletter.
  • First and second line support for students and staff via computing services helpdesk, email, and phone
  • Overseeing installing and testing of software, making software available to appropriate users, ensuring anti-virus software is installed and kept up to date.
  • Provide on-site support for staff meetings, presentations, parent-teacher meetings where necessary.

 

Training and Support

  • Create “How To” guides and training guidance as required. Such guides should be in multimedia format and include staff and students as trainers/ presenters where appropriate.
  • Provide ICT support and set up for sessional, State Exams and CATS exams.
  • Installation and testing of software where appropriate.
  • Specifying technical specification for the development of new and updating current laboratories, workstations, workshops and computer networks/systems/information technology and visual aids facilities.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of computer equipment and peripherals.
  • Developing a proactive system for the identification and resolution of a wide range of ICT and Audio-Visual related faults and queries
  • Manage IPAD roll out for incoming first year (Element’s) students and communicate with parents

 

Health and Safety

  • Monitoring, testing, and recording of condition of IT equipment to comply with Health and Safety Regulations and other Regulations specific to work area.
  • Arrange for safe disposal of used materials e.g., toner cartridges, fusers, batteries, and other materials containing toxic, hazardous, and volatile materials.
  • Stock control of equipment and consumable materials such as ink cartridges, photocopying supplies and so on.
  • Assist in consulting with suppliers of equipment and consumable materials and assist in obtaining technical specifications, quotations and ordering new equipment and consumable materials.
  • Taking delivery of new equipment and consumable materials and commissioning of new equipment

 

Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in Computer Science, IT or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Ability to assess professional development requirements, and liaise with senior leadership team to ensure CPD is provided
  • A broad range of ICT skills ranging from Network routing through to server management and LAN and Virtual server functionality.
  • Experience of working in education
  • Knowledge and experience of Service Level Agreements and Vendor Management
  • A strong and in-depth technical understanding of ICT systems
  • Proven experience of server and network infrastructure
  • A strong and in-depth technical understanding of ICT systems 
  • Proven experience of server and network infrastructure
  • Experience of diagnosing and resolving complex technical errors
  • Working knowledge of GDPR as it relates to IT
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to users in their use of ICT equipment
  • Experience of devising system procedures and policies
  • Experience of implementing ICT systems change
  • Experience of implementing Apple technology in an educational environment
  • Experience in project management

Remuneration Package

Salary between €50,000 and €75,000 per annum dependent on experience level.
