Quality Manager

About the Company

Quality Manager required for a leading Food Production facility in Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Quality function at an expanding facility.

About the Position

In this role you will lead and develop both the Quality Assurance and Laboratory Teams. You will bring a practical and hands-on approach with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to ensure success.
You will also develop a close working partnership with the Quality Team as well as the Production, Maintenance and Supply Chain leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance with relevant standards such as BRC, Kosher, Halal etc. as well as legislative and other customer specific requirements
  • HACCP and prerequisite program implementation
  • Drive a continuous improvement agenda to ensure a culture of right first time and audit readiness across the site
  • Manage site chemistry laboratory
  • Lead QA and Lab teams including resource management, coaching and succession planning
  • Ensure Non-conformance resolution and embedding of long-term preventive measures
  • Manage Customer Specification
  • Manage shelf life and end of life testing programs
  • Devise and implement all product and environmental testing schedules
  • Develop and execute site audit schedules such as hygiene & fabrication audits
  • Responsibility for managing all site Quality records


  • A third level qualification in Food science / Science / Quality disciplines
  • 5 years experience as a Quality Manager in a food processing
  • environment that operates to GFSI standards ideally BRC.
  • Experience in operation of a Food Safety and Quality Management System in a production facility is essential.
  • BRC (or equivalent) and retail standards experience is essential
  • Experience in leading, coaching and developing teams is desirable
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and with a can-do attitude
  • IT literate with strong Word, Excel and database skills to drive efficiencies
  • HACCP Trained

Remuneration Package

Salary is negotiable depending on experience. A benefits package including pension is included.
