IT Support Engineer

About the Position

This is a full-time, permanent position of IT Support Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who would like to progress their career in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate will have exposure to all aspects of the IT function, including involvement in Corporate and IT projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st level technical support to staff working remotely and onsite, on all IT hardware and software/applications queries.
  • Log, monitor and respond to support requests to the IT Helpdesk.
  • Evaluate, prioritise, troubleshoot, and escalate technical issues and queries.
  • Clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, timely and professional manner, keeping users informed.
  • Support and basic maintenance for both network and standalone printers.
  • Provide support to all staff on Office 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Liaise with third-party providers (as necessary) to ensure speedy resolution of support issues.
  • Build and configure laptops and desktops.
  • User account set up, modifications and deletions.
  • Desk moves, as required.
  • Assist with system administration tasks, e.g., backups, patching, Mobile Device Management, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) management.
  • Testing and evaluating new technology.
  • Maintain accurate hardware records for all IT assets.
  • Create and update documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to ESRI’s cybersecurity policies.
  • Participate in IT development projects and provide project support as the business needs.
  • Carry out general IT related duties as instructed by the Head of IT.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by IT Management.

Key Criteria: Qualifications, Experience and Skillset

  • A B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in supporting Windows 10 and general PC technical issues.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Office 365.
  • Superior ability to work as part of a team and on multiple tickets.
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to deal effectively and professionally with remote and in-person support requests.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build good working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to independently plan, organise and prioritise activities.
  • Willingness to gain additional knowledge and stay abreast of current technologies.
