A very strong opportunity to join an international life assurer, as their Chief Risk Officer, overseeing a sizeable team here in Dublin.  
Reporting into their CEO with a dotted line to the Chair of the Risk Committee, you will be responsible for leading and developing the Risk Management function.   The CRO (PCF 14) will be leading with an engaging leadership style and approach and contributing towards the strategic direction for the company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the team.
  • Oversee the calculation of the SCR.
  • Establish and maintain an effective risk management systems.
  • Implement the Model Validation Framework.
  • Oversee the co-ordination and implementation of the Outsourcing Policy and internal control function.
  • Monitor the solvency position of the Company on an ongoing basis including target level of capital and risk appetite.
  • Under the direction of the Board perform the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) as required
  • Chair and lead responsibility for the outsourcing committee, ensuring the framework is adhered to
  • Implement the Operational Risk Framework, ensuring the mitigation of material risk through engagement with the business.
  • Engage with the Regulator to ensure smooth implementation of the Risk Management objectives.


The Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • An astute leader with strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to maintain and further develop a strong and collaborative team culture.
  • Engaging, with a clear communication style and strong ability to lead and develop teams.
  • At least 5+ years in a senior risk leadership position, with proven record in operating at the executive level.
  • Professional Qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Financial Risk Management, Actuarial or Accountancy)
  • Strong experience in a Life Company Risk or Finance Function with and in-depth knowledge of Solvency II.
  • Sound knowledge of complex financial instruments, dynamic financial hedging and Asset Liability management strategies.
  • Significant leadership experience and ability to work with diverse and inclusive teams of risk professionals.
  • Ability and credibility to influence at a senior level and interact with regulators.
