About the Company

My client is one of the biggest players in the food production industry has a live position for a qualified Accountant to join their team located on the Cork/Limerick border. My client employs over 6,000 people nationwide and has a great track record for career progression, as they have 10 locations here in ROI and many more in their UK business. 

About the Position

This Senior Accountant will work in tandem with the Financial Controller who has previously worked their way up in the company on their graduate scheme. The successful candidate will act as a mentor and support the team of 8 including their Trainee Accountants with their development to become well-rounded Accountants and help with their careers in this company. This a fast-paced environment, with a headcount of 300+, they have 10-day reporting for accounts and this role involves the full management of weekly and monthly management accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements including year end audit files, and be accountable to deliver accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close and periodic reporting (monthly, quarterly and annually).
  • Preparing and completing weekly management accounts which will include extensive interaction with all internal business units and manufacturing-based analysis.
  • Work with the Finance Team to ensure that the team delivers an efficient and transparent service to all stakeholders across the business by demonstrating accounting and business knowledge
  • Set targets for and supervise finance personnel in the completion of their duties including the development and mentoring of the junior finance team, delivering to agreed deadlines and setting objections and goals to achieve
  • Support the Financial Controller as required on reporting and ad-hoc queries, including specific project assignments

Experience/Requirements

  • Must be a Qualified Accountant and be a member of a relevant accountant body, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA.
  • Ideally 2 years PQE in a financial/management accounting role, however, a newly qualified Accountant with relevant industry experience will be considered. 
  • IT proficient in Microsoft Office and to an advanced standard in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and a desire to continually improve systems and processes.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to work on site and work from 8.30am - 5pm 

Remuneration Package

Salary 50,000 -60,000 DOE, pension, training and career progression
