IT Technical Support Engineer

My client is one of the largest logistics companies in the world, currently has a job opportunity for a IT Technical Support Engineer to join their Irish-based operations in Dublin.

About the Position

The Purpose of the IT Technical Support Engineer is to assist and expedite the diagnosis and resolution of incidents and requests assigned to the Desk-side Support group in line with agreed service levels. Scope can cover server, desktop, domain, security and network services

Key Responsibilities:

  • OS Image management for standard laptops, desktops and Dbox/imaging management
  • Asset management infrastructure & desktop estate
  • Security contact for server & desktop estate.
  • For all products, services and systems within the area of responsibility, demonstrates, installs and commissions desktop systems and their routine upgrades.
  • Provides information on updates, known errors, changes in availability, new facilities etc.
  • Data restore/backup management using Symantec.
  • Administration of Active Directory domains for user account and system management
  • Provide project and build resource as appropriate.
  • Assist users by offering remote and/or on-site support within an agreed SLA for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, operating systems, Network configuration and software applications desktops on the following operating systems MS W10 / O365 / M365 (knowledge of Linux and Android an advantage)
  • Provides advice to users on systems, products and services, which are available to them
  • Assists users in making more effective use of desktop systems, products and services. Makes initial diagnosis of any problems and advises known solutions where applicable.
  • Ability to support senior management and directors on desktop and connectivity issues at offsite seminars and conferences
  • Knowledge of management tools i.e. knowledge of Altiris/MS solutions an advantage.
  • Printer Management via remote tools

  • Relevant infrastructure & network skillset
  • Proficient knowledge of PC and server infrastructure (W10) & MS Office Suite
  • Basic administration skills in Active Directory domains
  • Basic in Networking technology (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  •  Basic with PC and server data backup technology
  • Basic with imagining technology
  • Familiar ticketing tools
  • Familiar with mobile device set up/config
  • Aware of Programming/Scripting Languages (VB script)
  •  Aware of Corporate, Industry and Professional Standards (ITIL)
  • 1-2 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Qualification in IT Related discipline
