Operations Control Centre Manager 

About the Company

Our client is an Irish company established in 2005. They manage Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel and the Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) for Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Motorway Operations Control Centre  services that this control room provides – motorway traffic control and tunnel control

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the leadership and management of the Motorway Operations Control Centre  services 
  • Manage the day to day operation of the MOCC acting as the lead contact point for the client, operational partners and stakeholders
  • Manage all motorway and tunnel management system applications
  • Monitor quality of all notifications and communications sent to stakeholders and public
  • Liaise with other ERTO departments and stakeholders to facilitate, maintain and develop new and existing systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable contractual obligations
  • Facilitate operations by guiding critical decisions and development of SOP’s
  • Developing special event response plans 
  • Ensure staff and other resources are being utilised effectively 
  • Identify, develop and report on measures of effectiveness by providing KPI’s on transportation management, traveller information, incident management and vehicle detection system data to managers, stakeholders and motorway/tunnel users
  • Prepare regular reports on the performance of operations
  • Write and present on technical aspects for senior management

Experience/Requirements

  • Level 8 qualification or other equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline
  • 5 years control room experience managing people is essential and a minimum of 2 years traffic control tunnel control room management is desired
  • Previous experience with responsibility for the development and management of operations, in particular control room with SCADA or similar control systems
  • An understanding of client relationships and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability in employee mentoring and development
  • Strong networking abilities and creative problem solving
  • Change management experience to lead continuous improvement of operating efficiencies
  • A high level of numeracy and demonstrable analytical skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment
