Asset Data Governance Analyst

The Role:

This role is responsible for supporting activities connected with the definition and ownership of the asset data governance model for all information and processes on behalf of the company, including supporting the management of standards, governance policies and procedures for asset data change, asset data capture and asset data provision. The role will work closely with IT to manage any structural changes to asset data.

The Asset Data Governance Analyst will report directly to the Asset Data Governance Specialist and will support the Asset Intelligence team. This role will also provide support in defining asset data hierarchies and templates for systems and ensuring that critical systems, e.g. Maximo and GIS are maintained and fit for purpose for use by the wider business.

The role will work closely with counterparts in Asset Intelligence and IT to develop, maintain and govern a robust quality of asset data.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and maintenance of Asset Hierarchies to be adopted by Asset
  • Management and wider business.
  • Support the Asset Data Governance team to define the asset data governance standards
  • to be adopted by drawing on wider company requirements, particularly Asset Policy and Operations and Maintenance
  • Support the processes that ensure that important asset data is formally managed throughout the company
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of standards and best practices relating to asset data governance and reporting, in accordance with, and supportive of, regulatory requirements and company objectives
  • Support the development and implementation of asset data governance and standards that;
    • Adhere to and support regulatory and company objectives
    • Align with the needs of the Asset Management and Operations and Maintenance teams and other consumers of asset information across the company (e.g. Regulation and strategy teams)
  • Perform regular asset data quality assurance and audit to ensure sufficient asset data integrity
  • Work closely with counterparts from Asset Management, Operations and Maintenance etc. to identify and resolve asset data quality and governance issues
  • Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Asset Management business plans
  • Ensure that asset data is compliant with any data protection policies, regulation or legislation
  • Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as the company may reasonably require
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset data quality, asset data security, the asset data governance process, and optimise the cost of asset data management

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Relevant third level qualification, e.g. Computer Science, Business Information Systems,
  • Mathematics with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience is required
  • Experience working in data quality and governance with exposure to asset management applications widely used in the utility sector desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to analyse complex business problems to support the development of appropriate solutions
  • Knowledge of data management, databases and data quality governance regulations
  • High level of knowledge of relevant data governance and quality control standards
  • Proven ability to:
    • Learn new tasks quickly, applying logic to solve business and data problems,

remembering information and gathering data for effective decision making

    • Build effective relationships internally and externally to accomplish team goals and

mitigate risk to the company

    • Prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining

focused on company goals

    • Secure and compare information from multiple sources to identify business issues;

committing to an action after weighing alternative solutions against decision criteria
