Leading global re/insurer with a strong focus on specialty re/ insurance risks currently has a superb role for a Head of Operations for their Reinsurance division.

Head of Operations

Reporting to their Head of Global Operations, you will oversee their reinsurance operations teams based in Ireland and Bermuda, working closely with their underwriting, finance and claims teams. You will be a member of their senior management team, with dual reporting into their Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for their reinsurance entity.


Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the operations function and related processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee all aspects of the Operations team and the day-to-day operation functions
  • Maintain a robust control framework and analyze processes to increase operational efficiency
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy related to underwriting related transactions
  • Monitor the bookings of proportional bordereaux and the calculation and preparation of outwards cession statements
  • Manage the underwriting related receivables and the cash allocation process to ensure effective credit control
  • Own the process for (LoC) Letter of Credit issuance under the current letter of credit facilities
  • Review and document all operations guidelines, process narratives, compliance requirements and SOX controls
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead future system implementations and upgrades


The ideal candidate profile:

  • Proven reinsurance operations experience at as senior management level, previous working in U/W portfolio management, governance oversight, operations, finance business partnering, insurance operations
  • Experience with proportional reinsurance contracts
  • Significant knowledge of reinsurance and insurance contract terms and structures preferred
  • Experience with Letter of Credit Issuance would be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and drive project and process improvements
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Ability to work both collaboratively within a global team
  • Selft starter with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timeliness against the operational team outputs.
  • Proven ability to drive the adoption of new technologies to increase efficiencies
