About the Position

This is an incredible opportunity for a Quality Manager with Laboratory experience to take a lead role in an exciting greenfield opportunity. In this role you will help to spearhead the establishment of a brand new 3,800 sq.m. testing laboratory that will serve clients nationally.

This state of the art facility will house testing capabilities in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology labs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and delivering technical audits to ensure customer focus and compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 17020, ISO 5667 sampling and analysis standards and adherence to relevant legislation to ensure the maintenance of accreditation
  • Responsible for managing the quality manual and associated SOPs, supporting documentation and templates, and monitoring the quality management system
  • Responsible for the development of test validation and verification methodologies and for executing programmes to deliver test validation.
  • Responsible for managing the audit plan and schedule
  • Determine Audit/ QA activities with input from accreditation bodies and ensure implementation by the teams
  • Responsible for reviewing audit reports and making recommendations to maximise quality and operational performance.
  • Contribute to the ongoing forecasting and planning future resource requirements (people, budgets, equipment, information and data)
  • Responsible for providing input into designing preventative maintenance schedules for sampling and laboratory equipment and resources
  • Responsible for leading and managing the performance of the Quality team and provide them with the necessary direction, skills and training
  • Advise on appropriate action to address non-conforming data that ensures compliance with relevant information system standards, customer needs and regulatory requirements as appropriate
  • Review and approve process improvements to maintain quality and integrity of the sampling and analysis processes
  • Responsible for supervising and implementing necessary stock control management procedures
  • Responsible for overseeing the monitoring of analytical quality control across all teams

Experience/Requirements

  • Third level degree (level 8 or higher) in Science, Environmental or related discipline
  • Chartered status with scientific discipline preferred
  • Minimum 10 years direct relevant experience
  • Knowledge of current analytical best practices and procedures within Scientific Services
  • Skilled technical auditor with experience carrying out audits against ISO 17025 and other relevant requirements
  • In depth knowledge of the requirements of ISO 17025 and relevant standards with respect to the operation of drinking and wastewater testing
  • Experience managing staff with a proven track record of delivering results through direction, empowerment and motivation of team members
  • In depth knowledge of the application of the current legislation, standards, processes and procedures relevant to scientific services
  • Capable of building a high performing team and of developing people to realise their full potential and achieve results through effective coaching, delegation and support
