Fund Accounting Assistant Manager ETF
About the Position
Reporting to the Fund Accounting Manager, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the operations of the ETF accounting team, ensuring full compliance with all accounting regulations to which they are subject. Represent the company within the industry, participating in relevant working groups within the IFIA, AMIA, etc., while contributing to Board and Committee reports.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the management of the daily workflow of the team to ensure client deliverables are produced within agreed deadlines and to maintain positive client relations.
Investigating client issues and resolving valuation related enquiries. Assisting the team members in resolving differences or investigating unusual entries / fund movements.
To manage staff, split into various teams and to provide a detailed review of their work in accordance with established procedures. Implement development and succession planning of staff, recognize training needs and to suggest training courses suitable for each individual.
Participate in the recruitment process for the department.
Assisting and deputizing (as appropriate) the Fund Accounting Manager in his / her absence, in terms of providing day to day management of the Department.
Ensure implementation of effective and efficient global processes and controls between BPFS Dublin and centralised Hub service providers, such as BPSS Luxembourg pricing or BPSS UK Middle Office.
Monitor team KPI’s, such as late deliveries, error’s, reconciliation items, overtime, funds by headcount, etc. and manage for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Managing client expectations in terms of fund accounting service.
Continuously challenge processes, procedures and controls in order to develop a stronger, effective and efficient department.
Ensure good communication with the Manger to ensure awareness of all issues within each team.
Provide monthly and quarterly statistics in relation to the funds within the team for internal MIS and for external Board meetings.
Ensure that theses are delivered within the agreed timeframe. Coordinate the external requirement, clients, compliance, Trustee and Auditors, and agree delivery timeframes.
Review fund operating documents, prospectus, pricing policy, agreements to ensure service capability or development needs.
Manage the take-on of new business into the department and the implementation of appropriate procedures as required.
Assist with the further development of the fund accounting process and systems to meet future market and client developments.
Manage change and support global strategic initiatives
Experience/Requirements
A minimum of 10 years Fund Accounting experience incorporating the above key responsibilities, with a minimum of 4 years in a management/team leader role and a minimum of 3 years ETF experience.
Leadership skills, including mentoring, assessment, training and development planning.
Extensive knowledge of various domiciliation (Irish and Offshore) legislation and regulatory requirements.
Thorough knowledge of Fund accounting, including Custodian, Prime Brokers and Middle Office activities.
Thorough knowledge of complex hedge fund investment types, strategy and performance fees.
Management of the needs of clients and an ability to deliver an excellent client service.
Extensive knowledge of ETF’s, benchmark checks and PCF reporting.
Prior experience using accounting systems such as Multifonds preferred but not essential.
Strong excel knowledge.
