Business Intelligence Manager

Hybrid working: 2 days in the office/week.
Client is in the healthcare space.
Apart from technical experience below, project management and people management experience is valued for this role.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business intelligence processes that align with strategic objectives
  • Perform analyses on organisational processes and present results
  • Design data architectures and develop strategies for the implementation of solutions that align with business requirements
  • Coordinate teams and activities to ensure efficient implementation of projects
  • Ensure test plans are developed and executed in line with project requirements
  • Manage multiple projects in parallel from conception to delivery, ensuring project objectives are satisfied
  • Prepare project updates for a variety of audiences, tailoring accordingly
  • Manage and customise ETL processes as per customer requirements
  • Analyse complex datasets, identifying opportunities for business enhancement
  • Supervise employees to ensure team performance is maximised
  • Conduct assessments of reporting requirements and develop long-term strategies for reporting solutions when required
  • Translate strategies into operational plans according to business priorities and budgets
  • Liaise with data generators to ensure compliance of enterprise data model with pertinent data related standards
  • Provide support to business teams, proactively seeking value adding opportunities
  • Work between business and resource teams to prepare appropriate schedules
  • Monitor work of junior team members to ensure effective project implementation; and
  • Manage data from transactional sources and prepare effective reports.

Required skills/attributes

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Data or similar role
  • Minimum 2 “years” recent experience with Microsoft Power BI development
  • A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Operation Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Management/Business Information Systems (or related degree));
  • Experience in developing self-service dashboards and reports
  • Ability to clean, transform and integrate data sources using M code in the Power BI Query Editor
  • Experience in designing data models for performance
  • Ability to design complex calculations in DAX which are accurate, clear and performant on large datasets and in a variety of contexts
  • Ability to implement row level security
  • Experience configuring gateways and scheduling auto-refresh of reports;
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing data visualisation best practice
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and delivering multiple projects in parallel with competing deadlines
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies and techniques
  • Strong experience with the development lifecycle of data reports and dashboards
  • Proven ability to manage and delegate tasks to junior staff
  • Ability to work in challenging and complex scenarios with competing requirements and multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to explain technical analysis to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to lead workshops with non-technical clients, gathering requirements and translating them into scoping documents
  • Experience with strategy development and operational implementation
  • Experience in solving business problems and delivering insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated with a growth mind-set
  • Ability to write procedures and conduct training; and
  • Ability to engage with key stakeholders and relay information in a way that is easy to understand and provides commercial (not just process orientated) insights.

Desirable skills/attributes

  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate Certification
  • Project Management Certification (Agile, PMP, PRINCE2 or similar)
  • Programme / Portfolio management experience
  • Experience in data science including predictive analysis
  • Experience in the following industry sectors will be of specific interest: energy/utilities, life sciences and healthcare
  • Azure Modern Data Platform and SQL Server Reporting Services knowledge is an advantage
  • SharePoint Designer
  • Power Apps, Power automate and related MS tools and software; and
  • R, Python
