Our client is a semi-state climate solutions company helping lead Ireland towards a climate neutral future. They are currently recruiting for a Senior Internal Auditor
 

About the Position

This role will be based in Newbridge and will report to the Head of Internal Audit. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing and completing reviews of financial and operational processes throughout the Group.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • The role requires an individual to maintain knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing,
  • Work as part of a team to develop and execute risk-based internal audit plans focused on business risks and controls,
  • Undertake strategic reviews evaluating the adequacy of the control environment in terms of design and operating effectiveness, 
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end audit process, including initial research and risk assessment for each assignment,
  • Monitor the progress of corrective action plans resulting from audit findings,
  • Keep up to date with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to ensure compliance,
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings,
  • Actively develop and maintain positive relationships with senior managers and staff to enhance the reputation of the Internal Audit function.
  • Collaborate with management to identify areas of risk and develop strategies to mitigate risk,
  • Make informed and balanced recommendations to the business on the systems and procedures being reviewed, 
  • Communicate audit results and recommendations to senior management,           
  • Liaise with external auditors as required, 
  • Work alongside subject matter experts as part the co-sourced Internal Audit delivery model.
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's, objectives.
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises.

Experience/Requirements

  • A recognised accounting qualification. Internal Auditing qualification an advantage or a willingness to sign up to the IIA exams.
  • Previous experience of working with an internal audit function
  • A highly motivated self-starter with the following attributes and skills:
  • Ideally hold an accountancy and Internal Audit qualification or be able to demonstrate a robust knowledge of Internal Audit Standards and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with utilities, waste industry and IT audit related issues is an advantage. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and a team player

Remuneration Package

 

  • Salary €55,000-€65,000

  • Bonus
