About the Position
This role will be the central point of the internal IT applications development team and will input to overall architectural approach, lead system design and fulfil development tasks as part of the overall IT improvement and maintenance programme. You’ll be working closely with IT management, change teams, development resources both internal and external as well as the business teams in driving these areas forward.
is on a journey to refresh its entire IT architecture away from a highly vendor diverse and complex cloud-based architecture. You’ll be central on our journey to do that – working on technology that is new to the company whilst also helping our existing systems to be as efficient and stable as possible. We’re currently heading towards a Microsoft eco-system, although this is still open to analysis, so skills and knowledge in this space will be important although we’ll have external support where necessary to help us.
This role is an opportunity to lead an IT transformation with scope to input and guide the design and outcomes using up to date technologies, including ones that are only really just touching the market. You will be responsible for;
Key Responsibilities
Acting as lead developer and designer to IT applications – working with the Head of Business Application to guide its ongoing IT architecture redesign and upgrade
Providing design guidance and principles to development team
Creating design documentation when required
Undertaking development and maintenance tasks as directed
Ensuring high quality delivery through attention to detail and system testing
Following development processes and procedures
Ensuring adherence to architectural plan and approach through communication with and instruction to technical team members
Working with change team to keep change reports and tracking (e.g. Jira) up to date with updates on development progress
Ensuring development time lines are analysed, agreed, communicated clearly and adhered to as much as possible
Working with tech support team to understand critical bugs and issues and assist with their resolution
Experience/Requirements
5+ years experience of working as a Software Developer
Strong technical expertise with MS environment and architecture
Understanding of IT architectural concepts and system design skills
Logical and process driven approach to change delivery
Demonstrated leadership of projects and IT delivery processes
Good understanding of IT design and development concepts
Design and requirements documentation skills and great attention to detail
Technical skills in applications and database design
Knowledge of and preferably experience in Microsoft cloud application technologies (Power Platform, 365, Dynamics, Fabric).
Excellent interpersonal skills required, particularly the ability to gain alignment and cooperation with colleagues (both technical and non-technical) to execute a desired plan
Experience working in a highly collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
Calm and level-headed with the ability to predict challenges and proactively resolve obstacles before they arise
Understanding of challenges and opportunities presented by working with a smaller business vs working in a large corporate environment
Experience working in a fast and agile environment with strong track record of delivery
