What you’ll be doing…

You will be responsible for engineering and maintaining features and components across our backend systems from a database development standpoint, in support of our client’s award winning SAAS Fleet Management products. You’ll work as part of a cross-functional squad of software engineers, UX designers, QA engineers, and product owners, using agile methodologies to design and own applications that help our customers achieve good outcomes, and use feedback from these customers to extend and improve these applications.

What we’re looking for...

• Advanced Knowledge of PostgreSQL development, PostgreSQL partitioning and migration of code base to PostgreSQL from SQL Server
• Advanced Knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, especially around the ability to read and analyze execution plans and statistics.
• The ability to technically design and implement new application features, rework and upgrades of the existing functionality.
• Good Knowledge and experience with AWS Cloud, especially with Aurora RDS PostgreSQL and Glue
• Experience in working closely with the DBA team and architects to ensure the smooth deployments of application updates.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving general database problems.
• Experience with database design & data modeling (experience with Erwin or similar data modeler tools is an advantage).
• Experience in database source control and deployments. Examples: Git, Flyway
• Experience in testing/validating database components, particularly with PgTap
• Experience with monitoring, especially AWS native tooling (e.g. Performance Insights) and / or other native or 3rd party tools.
• Advanced Knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, especially around stored procedures
• Advanced knowledge of indexes, index management, index design, index optimisations and index statistics.
• Acting as SME (subject matter expert) for the teams implementing features or changes using SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms 

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of design and development of relational data store solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in a production environment.
• Demonstrated experience with agile development practices.
• Proven ability to influence technical discussions and provide technical leadership.
• Ability to comprehend complex business and technical scenarios.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and PGPLSQL / T-SQL
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
