12 Month Daily Rate Contract

They are recruiting for a QA Automation Engineer on a 12 month contract basis. About the Position

This is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office per week. In certain circumstances, further flexibility could be offered.

Our client has an immediate need for a Systems Engineer to help facilitate the development, maintenance, monitoring and support of the public and private cloud infrastructure that is the foundation of their award-winning SaaS application.

The role will involve delivering on enterprise work initiatives and projects as well as optimising the reliability, security and scalability of our infrastructure operations.  You will act as technical liaison between the systems team and other operations teams, as well as working with cross-functional teams and architects to provide technical guidance and insight on upcoming implementations and strategies.  The role will also require providing technical guidance to more junior systems engineers.

The ideal candidate will be a highly competent, results driven as well as a highly self-motivated individual.


Key Responsibilities
 

  • Owning, tracking and resolving system incidents and requests

  • Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.

  • Operation, administration and automation of Microsoft technologies on cloud platforms.

  • Monitoring performance, troubleshooting systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with System Engineers & Architects on any required optimisations.

  • Provide on call support for the team in an outage situation.

  • Work as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to timelines.

  • Collaborating closely with the information security team to define, manage and implement the security configuration of all infrastructure and systems

  • Ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation.


Experience/Requirements

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A solid background in Linux/Unix and Windows server system administration

  • Experience designing and building web environments on AWS, which includes working with services like EC2, ELB, S3, AMI automation and SSM

  • Experience in troubleshooting distributed systems

  • Advanced knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell)

  • Excellent experience in enterprise administration of windows servers and related technologies (Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Failover Clustering, WSUS)

  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)

  • Experience on Python & Bash scripting

  • Knowledge of Windows Troubleshooting tools and techniques (Event viewer, Perfmon, SysInternals)

  • Ability to learn new technologies and scripting languages

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, agile environment.


Remuneration Package

A strong daily rate is on offer, and your initial contract will be 12 months.
