IT Service Desk Engineer
About the Company
Our client is a well-known Irish University College in Dublin City Centre .
Full time and permanent role & hybrid working set-up, salary of between €54K per annum and 64K per annum
About the Position
This role is part of the IT Service Desk team of IT professional staff who provide technical services tostaff, students and visitors to the University. The role reports to the IT Service Desk Manager.
The role expects a passion for new IT and digital technologies, and the ability to promote and be an advocate for the IT Service operating model, IT policies and new developments.
Ideal requirements:
Degree or postgraduate qualification in an Information Technology, Computer Science related
discipline or A degree or postgraduate qualification with demonstratable appropriate level and range of professional experience in IT – essential
ITIL or equivalent IT Service Management qualification – desirable
In-depth technical knowledge of Windows and Mac Operating Systems and knowledge of a wide-range of software applications including MS Office (O365), web browsers and utilities
Excellent troubleshooting knowledge for Windows & Mac operating systems and hardware issues
Knowledge of networking troubleshooting
Awareness of IT security fundamentals
Knowledge of service management framework and principles
Experience of working in an academic computing and\or IT support environment
Experience of using an ITSM tool and compiling and maintaining accurate work records and
documentation.
Experience of working in a team, aware of the importance of sharing experience, knowledge and
information with others and evidence of ability to build beneficial working relationships
Demonstrate experience of excellent problem-solving including an ability to diagnose complex
hardware and software faults and successful delivery of solutions to complex problems in a measured and creative way, demonstrating the ownership of issues and opportunities.
Ability to prepare detailed reports, and complex technical specifications and systems documentation, and help others understand the content while taking into account the level of knowledge of the recipient.
Demonstratable ability to complete tasks to a given plan and prioritise and organise own work to
achieve agreed objectives.
An understanding of what customer service excellence means and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with a good telephone manner, keeping the customers’ needs continually in mind when taking actions or making decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey and to present potentially complex technical information so that it is clear and easily understood
Ability to build and develop relationships with peers and stakeholders to ensure effective exchange of information to support day-to-day work using existing practices.
Good time management skills Committed to high standards, the post holder must be able to be patient, level-headed and good humoured at all times, with the ability to work flexibly and to remain effective under pressure
