About the Company
My client is a HSE operated hospital located in South Dublin which was established nearly 300 years ago. They provide rehabilitation / respite beds and long-term care services. A day hospital service is also provided for older people living in the community who have ongoing health and rehabilitation needs. The multidisciplinary team includes the following disciplines: Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medical Social Work, Speech and Language and Language Therapy, Nutrition & Dietetics, Psychology and Podiatry
About the Position
The
Financial Controller
is responsible for the provision of the overall financial leadership of the Hospital. As a key member of the Hospital Management Team, the post-holder will have the opportunity to provide support to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer and the Hospital Management Team across a wide variety of initiatives and developments and provide a high level of expertise and understanding of Financial Management to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board through the Relevant Committees.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of the Finance function.
Participate with the Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Management Team in ensuring that the day-to-day activities and resources of the Hospital are managed and coordinated so as to provide a patient centered service which is delivered through the effective and efficient management of the Hospital’s Finances.
A deep understanding of the financial and operational challenges faced within running a highly complex and pressured working environment.
Expertise in reporting, analysis and evaluation of data.
Working knowledge of what constitutes good financial controls/systems which contribute to key business decisions.
Knowledge and experience of dealing with complex data in a large organisation and working independently.
Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Health Act, Finance Acts etc would be beneficial.
Review with the Senior Management Team, the Hospitals expenditure with regard to efficiency and effectiveness, emphasising the development and implementation of a value for money policy.
Assist in implementing major organisation change initiatives at the Hospital.
The ability to evaluate complex information from a variety of sources and make effective decisions.
Experience/Requirements
Current membership of a recognised or prescribed accountancy body such as ACCA, CPA, ACMA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent accountancy body in another jurisdiction.
Significant relevant post-qualification experience in a large organisation with multiple stakeholders to include a proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders
to ensure
financial consequences are taken into account.
Experience of finance and budgeting systems in a Hospital Setting.
Experience in team management and development.
Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the Finance Department.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups.
The ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to assist in performing the role.
The ability to present information clearly, concisely and confidently when speaking and in writing tailoring to meet the needs of the audience.
Excellent presentation skills.
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to produce professional reports.
Remuneration Package
Salary €70,000-€80,000
Hybrid working after probationary period.
Flexible working hours.
Pension.
30 days annual leave
