About the Company

My client is one of Ireland's most prestigious universities with a beautiful campus in the heart of Dublin’s city Centre, they are also Ireland’s highest ranked university. They are currently looking to add to their team a Senior Internal Auditor for to join their existing team of 4.
 

About the Position

The role is part of the Internal Audit function, which is led by the Internal Auditor supported by a team of qualified professionals. The function is responsible for ensuring that a comprehensive programme of audit work is carried out annually throughout the University. The purpose of this work is to provide assurance that the internal control environment is appropriately designed and operating in accordance with best practice and with the appropriate regulations, and to make recommendations for the improvement of such controls and procedures. The role holder supports the Internal Auditor and Deputy Internal Auditor in the achievement of the objectives of the function, is responsible for ensuring functions compliance with GDPR, leading development of functions risk register and has responsibility for delivering a portfolio of audit assignments, including those of a complex nature.
 

Key Responsibilities

Playing a significant part in the universities efforts to drive continuous improvement in business practices, standards, processes and performance and raising awareness of leading practice in governance.
• Responsibility for ensuring compliance with GDPR requirements for the function
• Leading the process for continuous review of risks facing the function and update of the Internal Audit function Risk Register
• Contributing to the annual audit planning process and providing challenge and feedback to the Internal Auditor
• Taking responsibility for a portfolio of audit assignments in accordance with plans approved by the Audit Committee, particularly those of a complex nature
• Leading the delivery of individual audit assignments and ensuring their timely completion
• Preparing risk assessments and audit programmes
• Performing audit work in line with agreed audit programmes and in compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors Standards
• Drafting audit reports and making informed recommendations to improve controls and facilitate attainment of objectives
• Engagement with management at all levels across the University to ensure agreement with Internal Audit recommendations
• Undertaking administrative and compliance activities to support the Internal Audit function
• Following the highest level of professional standards and keeping up to date with developments in practice and driving processes for improvement within the Internal Audit function
• Deputise for colleagues as required and represent the Internal Audit function at meetings and events.
• Any other duties that arise from time to time as directed by the manager or nominee
 

Experience/Requirements


• Candidates must be fully qualified member of a recognised accountancy body and / or hold the Institute of Internal Auditors qualification CMIIA
• Extensive knowledge of audit methodology and principles, governance practices and internal controls including risk management
• Candidates must have at least three years post qualification audit experience working in Internal Audit (Experience gained in external financial auditing is not a substitute for this requirement)
• Candidates must have had extensive audit experience in diverse sectors and possess a broad knowledge of management practices and systems
• Candidates should have audit experience in similar roles and / or industry
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills and proficient with advanced features of Microsoft Office
• Ability to report to, and engage with and win the confidence of the Audit Committee, senior management and other stakeholders
 

Remuneration Package

• Salary- €85,000-€103,000 D.O.E.
• Pension
• Hybrid Working
