About the Company

Our client, one of Ireland's leading brands and largest employers. They currently have multiple opportunities for Laboratory Technicians within their Renewable Energy business unit.

About the Position

The successful candidates will be responsible for reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Officer. The primary responsibility of the Laboratory Technician is to carry out daily duties in accordance with the provisions of the ISO 17025 Standard. To carry out audits as required by the schedule and requested by management. To assist in the analysis & assessment of fuel quality on the plant to support production/operations. Also to assist in the control of water and steam chemistry on the plant and to help co-ordinate the plants Environmental Management System.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out fuel analysis to ensure it meets commercial and technical needs of the Powergen Division and to ensure it operates to the standard outlined in the laboratory quality manual and the ISO 17025 Standard. Carry out water analysis to help co-ordinate the plant Environmental Management System;
  • Participate and assist with Environmental, Health & Safety activities including Risk assessment and Auditing;
  • To assist in carrying out internal quality and laboratory audits to verify that the operation of the Business Management System and activities of the laboratory complies with relevant ISO Standards including 17025 Standard;
  • Control of water and steam chemistry on the plant and effluent to ensure the plants Environmental Management System compliance with all relevant environmental & legislative responsibilities;
  • Contribute to the documentation and development of the plant’s control and Business Management Systems including interfaces with regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies, ensuring the systems comply with the requirements of the various accreditations, fuel supplier and relevant authorities and operates in a Continuous Improvement environment;
  • Liaise as necessary with the Operations Manager with regard to all aspects of process water sampling, testing and quality;
  • Maintain interfaces with the ANUA, other interested parties, NSAI, INAB, the Fuel Suppliers, laboratory suppliers and contractors, as necessary;
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises;
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's, objectives;

Experience/Requirements
  • Appropriate technical qualifications (C&G, HNC, HND engineering/chemistry), with particular emphasis on fuel & chemical analysis, including knowledge of the ISO 17025 Standard;
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience would be an advantage; 
  • Fuel laboratory in an Accredited environment - EPA Licencing an advantage;
  • Fuel Analysis, Steam Plant ater Analysis, Effluent Analysis - Auditing Training & Experience;
  • Knowledge of the Basics of Health & Safety, Safepass;
