Network Operations Engineer

About the Company & position:

Our client, a Dublin-headquartered international fintech company are looking to recruit a Network Operations Engineer on a full time and permanent basis, with a remote working set-up.
Network Operations are responsible for the overall successful operation of the Distributed network. The successful candidate will aid in the coordination of efforts of the company network operations and vendors to ensure the service delivery and maintenance of their network.
This is a new role where day to day tasks are largely undefined. As such, the role requires any candidate to be flexible in order to fulfil the needs to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain monitoring and alerting of Platforms and infrastructure
  • Continuous review and implementation of the Network Operations Centre
  • Deployment of new environments and releases, both production and pre-production
  • Report on Network Operations uptime, availability and day to day tasks (tickets)
  • Escalate cases/incidents to development/engineering teams where needed
  • Act as Technical SME for platforms and infrastructure
  • •Sharing technical knowledge through Knowledge sharing sessions and keep internal technical documentation up to date
  • Drive continuous improvement across Network Operations processes, teams and vendors.
  • Act as escalation point for the Customer Operations
  • Regularly interact and communicate with product and engineering teams.
  • Work closely with other internal teams and vendors to assist in troubleshooting where required, to resolve business impacting incidents
  • Handling and prioritising level 2 and level 3 tickets related to customer faults and achieving resolutions in a timely manner (deep technical support)
  • Proactively communicate with engineering team technical issue, bugs and improvement suggestion
  • Maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk
  • Aid in forecasting and planning of Network Operations
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests asked of you to support the business and its operations


  • Ability to work on your own and drive projects and tasks to completion
  • Confidence to escalate and call out issues or incidents when they occur
  • Occasionally work additional hours/weekend where needed in order to complete tasks effectively and to target dates
  • Support remediation of incidents and provide details to root causes where appropriate
  • May be required to undertake other roles within the overall Network Operations Services team when required


  • Computer Science or related degree or 3 – 4 years working in customer support or operations related field
  • Strong working experience in cloud support / application support
  • Basic dev-ops experience
  • Experience dealing with high pressure customer sensitive situations
  • Manage the day to day health of the MarcoPolo Network
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service
  • Experience with hosted managed services
  • Proven ability to present service improvement initiatives to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Training is largely on-the-job and will require an attitude of continuous learning and self-starting

Preferred skills

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
  • Excellent Knowledge of Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes service
  • Good Experience with Azure technologies.
  • Good experience with Jenkins auto release systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills – log analysis, recognising incidents, technical understanding.
  • Knowledge of ITIL desirable

Remuneration Package

€50,000 to €70,000 dependent on experience
