Risk and Compliance Manager

About the Company

My client is a fast-growing, global startup financial services company that puts ethical, environmentally sustainable business practices to the forefront of how they operate and are now seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager to join their growing team. 


About the Position

This role will be based in Dublin and is a key hire. The successful candidate will lead the organisation in world class fraud and risk management. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Monitoring and ensuring the Group’s adherence with laws, regulations, and internal policies whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk-based challenges and offering appropriate solutions
  • Reviewing and revising best business practices and policies to address any potential risks
  • Designing, implementing and overseeing an overall risk management approach for the Group
  • Regular reporting to senior management within the Group on the progress of key compliance initiatives
  • Advising Senior Management on the regulatory, legislative and best practice changes and their obligations under these changes and how they impact the Group
  • Conducting compliance audits and risk assessments during the year
  • Coordinating and supporting regular Board meetings in respect of the Group’s regulated businesses. This includes managing the delivery of appropriate management information.
  • Completing or overseeing the completion of onboarding packs in respect of the approval of high risk clients
  • Reviewing and updating business continuity plans for local offices
  • Potentially acting as a compliance office for EU regulation in EU member states we have an entity in.
  • Ensuring compliance projects are carried out to a high standard, efficiently and to deadlines
  • Developing appropriate compliance and risk training for local offices and coordinating with the heads of local offices the delivery of that training
  • Managing the remediation of material risk incidents in consultation with senior management
  • Overseeing the management of the cybersecurity risk of the Group


  • A degree and a professional accounting or legal compliance qualification is preferable
  • 7+ years’ experience in risk management and compliance at a senior level
  • Practical and pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Extensive experience in both onshore and offshore compliance
  • Experience and knowledge of Cayman Islands and/or British Virgin Islands regulatory framework preferable
  • Strong technical skills in business matters, corporate governance and regulatory law and risk
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written and presentation skills
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Planning and organisational skills (both at an individual and team level)

Remuneration Package

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
