Brightwater are currently recruiting for an organised, innovative and driven individual to join the Materials Team as Materials Planner on a permanent basis reporting to the Dry Goods Manager in our Operations Packaging Unit. <.i>

Purpose of the Role

• Plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials in the dry goods department. • Ensure that production line delivery aligns with minimum stock targets and logistics costs.

Key Deliverables

• Schedule the supply of materials/components to meet packaging requirements • Balance ensuring there is an appropriate supply of packaging materials and consumables for all site requirements whilst minimizing storage costs • Develop stocking programs and/or vendor managed inventory to maintain security of supply where necessary • Monitor Supply Chain metrics to identify gaps in current processes, improve service levels to internal and external customers, reduce waste, and improve the value chain efficiency. • Continuously evaluate and develop processes for material delivery from supplier to our site. • Investigate discrepancies or capacity challenges, proposing and initiating corrective action as required. • Evaluate non-productive raw material inventories for disposition, and work to minimize non-productive inventory for raw materials, semi-finished and packaging materials. • Identify and initiate response to raw material service/quality complaints from manufacturing. Initiate return material process involving QA and Sourcing. • Maintain productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure Materials activity is aligned with Planning and Packaging teams output targets. • Ensure that stores inventory is managed to excellent standards through stores layout, use of 5S principles, stock identification and tagging. • Assists in reducing material lead times and manufacturing cycle times in order to support MRP/build-to-order shop requirements. • Issues periodic reports reflecting manufacturing performance, capacity loads, schedules, etc.

Continuous Improvement

• At all times work to reduce and eliminate waste and identify opportunities to improve business processes. Be aware of loss and waste within the area. • Establish a set of metrics, in line with industry best practice, in the stores that provide early indication of stock loss, obsolescence and inventory levels. • Track and monitor inventory levels and usage with a view to minimizing stock holding. • Monitor line performance to identify trends and ensure that waste reduction and process improvement goals are incorporated into team goals, and the team understands these goals. • Lead and Participate in improvement projects using the agreed methodology processes in the interests of supporting the bottling and warehouse objectives. • Follow XO approaches (such as problem solving) as detailed in the site improvement work practice.

Qualifications and skills required

• 3rd Level degree in Supply Chain or Engineering • 5 years’ experience working in a similar role in a packaging environment. • Significant exposure to lean manufacturing excellence techniques • Strong financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes. • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. • Excellent process improvement and problem-solving skills. • Strong proficiency using various IT software packages and a demonstratable comfort engaging with new Technology • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualification desirable To apply for this Materials Planner role, click the “Apply Now” button or for more information, please contact Marc Bentley on 01 662 1000 or email
