General Manager | Facilities Brightwater Executive have been retained by a Global Facilities firm to appoint a General Manager; a key senior operational management position within the Irish and UK group. The appointee will be responsible for Operations at the Dublin location and will hold full financial (P&L) and operational responsibility for a major operational site in the UK & Ireland. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation to ensure a safe, profitable, high quality performance in accordance with customer expectations, corporate objectives, strategy and plans. They will also hold responsibility for the stringent management of €40M + in revenue and for providing leadership and guidance to 1,000+ staff delivering safe, consistent, high-quality ground handling services, in a safe environment, to a diverse set of customers.

Essential Skills & Responsibilities

• Lead, drive and continuously improve health & safety measures and KPIs related to people, equipment, facilities • Ensure alignment with the groups global health & safety values and strategies • Ensure the site operates with “just culture” as part of its core values • Focus on continuous improvement and sharing of best practice in the areas of health & safety and on time performance

Financial Acumen and P&L Management

• Successfully manage a P&L of €40M+ and improve profitability, productivity and market share • Continuously analyses financial and operational performance and forecast data to determine progress toward targets and proactively identifies and captures improvement potential where possible • Direct the preparation of operating budgets and proposals for capital expenditure and investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems, or other assets and resources

Leadership and Stakeholder Management

• Strong decision-making capabilities in a highly pressurised, time-sensitive and low-margin service business • Lead, guide, evaluate and develop a high-performing team to ensure that the organisation achieves its business objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws • Successful management of a large scale, unionised blue-collar workforce 1000+ staff in a highly seasonal business • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all key stakeholders (customer management, group management, unions, regulatory authorities, etc.) to meet business targets • Identify and generate new commercial opportunities through strong customer management and proactive relationship management

Quality Focus, Service Delivery and Operational Efficiency

• Strong focus on operational performance and quality of service • Proactively manage quality improvement measures where necessary and align closely with customers • Monitor and track quality standards of the ground handling operation and ensure continuous improvements in workflows and services to maintain competitiveness

Key Performance Indicators

• Safety performance metrics • Revenue, Gross Profit and EBITDA • HR Metrics – relating to Recruitment, Employee Engagement, Churn and Turnover • Quality targets as set by Group and/or as agreed with customers

Qualifications and Competencies

• University degree or equivalent, advanced degree in related field or professional certifications are advantageous • Excellent working knowledge of business management principles and practices, financial concepts, and key drivers of profitability and operational performance • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with significant P&L and people responsibility, preferably in the facilities industry in a blue-collar environment For a discussion on this General Manager role please contact Orla Brennan at Brightwater Executive on 01 6621000 or email
