Head of Technical Accounting Policy Working with specialised highly collaborative advisory technical accounting policy team, this person will partner closely with this client’s technical directors in the areas of financial reporting, audit and assurance, practice risk management and insolvency.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with senior representatives of Government departments, other State agencies and international standard setters; • Manage a team which plays a key role in the development of the accountancy profession in Ireland. • Working closely with the technical committees and working groups from various industry sectors, (consisting of expert contributors from small to larger advisory firms and in-house technical leads), leading policy change impacts relating to financial reporting, audit, assurance and / or insolvency • Manage a small team of experienced professionals, overseeing agendas and work programmes of the technical committees. • Formulating policy as regards relevant legal, regulatory proposals and proposals from standard setters. • Representing this team with government, regulatory agencies and other bodies in Ireland, the UK, internationally. • Ensuring appropriate allocation of responsibilities and delivery of agreed goals, and ongoing management of the technical agenda • Preparing, with committees/working groups, guidance and information documents for members; • Preparing with committees/working groups, submissions to consultations by international accounting, auditing and ethics standard setters, including the FRC, the IASB and the IAASB; • Liaising with various Irish and UK Government Departments on company law and other legislation impacting on the work of accountants, auditors and insolvency practitioners; • Interacting with bodies such as the Central Bank of Ireland, IAASA, ODCE and CRO • Providing technical assistance to clients, through the Technical Enquiry Service and by giving presentations to network groups, at CPD courses, conferences;

The Candidate

• Ideally 8 years plus PQE, ACA, ACCA, CIMA • A sound understanding of the legal frameworks and technical requirements faced by accountants, auditors and insolvency practitioners • A genuine interest in technical matters • A strong and proactive team player with high quality standards • Natural relationship, networking skills, strong influencer and champion of embracing change. • Effective presentation skills, with conviction and drive to see projects through • Expertise and experience in audit technical/methodologies and risk management.
