Treasury Funding and Risk Trader AVP The Treasury Funding & Investments division is responsible for the efficient funding needs, mitigating the cost of the liquidity pool, aggregating, hedging and managing interest rate risk on the banking book, and ensuring that the firm fulfils all of its relevant liquidity regulatory requirements.
Key functions include:
• Optimise the short term funding of the firm in an increasingly regulated environment • Responsibility for accurate and timely submission of Benchmark Interest Rates to relevant administrators and calculation agents • Diversify short term external liquidity sources across a range of products and markets • Ensure the firm is funded in line with projected requirements • Provide risk management of the firm’s term wholesale liabilities • Comply with all internal and external liquidity limits • Assist the management of the size, composition and risk of the liquidity buffer
Your Role
• Provide best execution to internal businesses, work with other experienced members of the teams to build and leverage market knowledge to recommend appropriate and flexible hedging and funding strategies • Manage the Risk and PnL of the book within all applicable limits, in line with trading mandates and in compliance with all relevant Treasury policies • Perform analysis of the desk P&L, working with Product Control & Hedge Accounting to: o extract key drivers and develop market related explains o determine more efficient hedging strategies to optimise the P&L impact of banking book activity • Accurate and timely forecasting of funding requirements to ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal stress requirements and/or metrics (RWA, min cash requirements and reporting requirements eg LRA, EMR), considering the future evolution of the firm’s balance sheet • Understand the drivers of the underlying cash positions to develop full comprehension of the balance sheet and ensure the appropriate pricing is applied • Accurate and timely publication of interest rates to Business units to ensure adequate pricing to clients applies and correct P&L and risk management • Monitoring of changes in Central Bank and Clearer deposit/overdraft rates to ensure Treasury pricing tracks the appropriate benchmarks • Understanding of the full life cycle of a trade, to ensure any challenges with bookings experienced on the desk can be overcome in a controlled and thorough manner • Ability to execute across different trading platforms, currencies and asset classes, in complex and challenging conditions, to ensure thorough coverage of funding and hedging of all Business units supported • Understand and operates within rigorous control and governance frameworks
Essential Skills
• Undergraduate or equivalent degree. • Relevant experience in Treasury, Fixed Income, Rates or related experience; • Understanding of the constraints and complexities of managing risk and funding in a legal entity construct • Knowledge of trading desk management and governance framework: • P&L and risk management framework (sign off, limits, etc) • Deep and thorough knowledge of interest rate markets. Candidate must be able to understand and explain market moves to both junior and senior colleagues, propose & execute strategies for managing interest rate risk, and provide guidance and training to more junior colleagues. • Consistently contributes to discussions on macroeconomics and markets. • Highly proficient in Excel / VBA • Trade execution experience across fixed income products, proven ability to execute through challenging market conditions • Interest rate risk measurement, management, and execution, including Structural Hedging • Understanding of Transfer Pricing mechanisms, hedging strategies, Interest Rate and FX derivatives • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work across businesses
