Our client, a well-known insurance firm based in Dublin, currently has a job opening for a Senior GIS Analyst. As this will be the first hire the organisation has made in this space, this is a pivotal role for the company going forward. You will be given autonomy to build the GIS function from the ground up. You will work across the business to bring it GIS capabilities to on par with competitors and then drive it beyond. This role will interact with business units across the organisation and will have major impact in areas such as underwriting strategy, exposure management, claims management, business strategy, sales and marketing, utilization for external, data sources build relationship management and industry representation.

The Job

• Responsibility for creation and management of GIS tools to enable underwriters to price and manage risk more effectively. • Specialist input into strategy based on analysis of GIS data • Perform complex data analysis using GIS tools, apply the capabilities of GIS to solve complex spatial and relational problems. • Data extraction, compilation, manipulation and analysis • Leading the implementation of GIS related deliveries across the organisation • Providing advice on the further utilisation of GIS technologies across Underwriting and Pricing and how it can be incorporated into the value stream. • Management of third party supplier relationships and contracts • Representing the company at Industry and market events • Identification of external data sources within Underwriting and pricing

The Person<./h1> • Hold a Degree qualification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or an equivalent qualification. • Have at least 2 years satisfactory relevant GIS experience. • Have demonstrable knowledge and experience in the following areas; • Spatial databases and database management. • Data extraction, conversion, cleaning and analysis. • Map design and production. • Experience in the creation, maintenance and interrogation of spatial datasets. • Knowledge of data quality issues, standards and metadata. • Awareness of GeoDirectory, OSI, CSO, Gamma and Lexis Nexis and other available data sources. • Have strong IT and graphic skills and proven ability to present maps and documents to a high standard. • Possess excellent problem solving and analysis skills. • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex GIS technical concepts to non-technical users. • Be a good team player. • Be results orientated and be flexible in a changing environment. • Strong planning & organisation skills. • Proficiency in the use of MS office including Excel, Access and PowerPoint. • General Insurance experience is desirable
