Software Product Strategy Manager – Logistics / Supply Chain

Our client provides industry leading transportation, global trade and supply chain management software for businesses around the world both On Premise and in the Cloud. They are looking for an experienced Trade and Transportation Software Product Manager.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This team member will be the key subject matter expert in high volume package delivery and transportation operations to help drive the company’s tactical and strategic road map. As such, they will be an advocate of the solution with clients, prospects and within the internal organization. They will have strong knowledge and working understanding of high volume transportation and package operations, including related Government regulations, trade rules, business operations, and/or other market factors necessary to ensure the company’s software solutions are proactively positioned to best serve its customers.

DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Product Direction and Research • Transportation product owner with responsibility for documentation and thought leadership aspects in this area. • Perform Market Research and competitive analysis. Where do we currently stand? Where do we need to be? • Develop a “Needs Analysis” for the product road map: o Document major gaps together with recommendations for bridging the gaps o What’s needed to drive the product forward? o What ‘differentiators’ would be required for a ‘next generation solution’ to help us gain more of a leadership role in the industry. • Work closely with customers in gathering desired functional requirements • Work with VP, Trade & Transportation and Marketing to define strategy, product development plan, release management and roll-out plans. Pre Sales • Support Sales, Pre-Sales and Services in client and net new prospect engagements, on-site and or remotely as the SME. • Work with Global Trade Content team on identifying content necessary to support Transportation, including potential content sources/providers. Marketing • Author and or co-author articles, sales collateral and white papers. • Attend and participate with industry events, speaking as part of expert panel engagements. • Participate in Webinars, user-group meetings, etc. Evangelize through social media channels and programs. Services / Implementation • Provide expertise and guidance in Transportation to project team and customers. • Provide training to the organization. • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have: • 8 years of industry experience within the shipment planning/execution operations of a high volume carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEX, DPD or similar), or within a multinational manufacturer/distributor with similar shipping requirements • Familiarity with Trade & Transportation systems and related enabling technologies, including experience with system selection and implementation • Proven ability to develop of internal procedures that improved operational performance/efficiency

EDUCATION

• Education/Licenses: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Trade & Transportation, Business/International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Engineering. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) a plus. (May consider waiving Bachelor requirements for proven industry experience, for the right candidate) • Ideally, Industry trade certification from a recognized body, such as the NCBFFA (US), Institute of Export & International Trade (UK), eBSI Export Academy (IE), IATA (CH) , or similar

OTHER KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS

• Understanding of critical trade & transportation requirements, including key data & documentation, necessary for ensuring the timely and compliant shipment of goods. • Development of operational Dashboards; Tracking and analysis of key metrics and performance indices • Understanding of where/how enabling systems work best to drive optimized performance
