Claims Handler

Reporting to the Claims Manager, you will participate in a customer focused claims handling team, dealing with liability claims from registration to settlement. You will ensure that a proactive, innovative and compliant philosophy is adopted in relation to all claim handling activities, which will involve managing a portfolio of Motor, EL, PL injury/damage claims, where claimant cases are managed either directly with the claimant, via a solicitor or through the Injuries Board process.

Your role will involve

• Providing first telephone contact for customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner to ensure a positive customer experience. • Ensuring all necessary information is captured at notification stage in a comprehensive and accurate manner. • Ensuring that accurate decisions on the outcome of the claim are made at an early stage, in order to reduce claims cost and lifecycle. This includes decisions on policy indemnity, investigation, legal liability, quantum, reserving and settlement strategy. • Targeting claims where appropriate for settlement direct with the claimant, ensuring that these claims are dealt with in a proactive, fair and compliant manner. • Targeting claims where appropriate for settlement with the claimants’ legal representatives prior to the Injuries Board process. • Managing claims within the Injuries Board process. • Ensuring all recovery opportunities are identified and proactively handled through to conclusion. • Ensuring Customer Service levels are delivered and maintained in accordance with agreed standards. • Ensuring that claims handling is at all times in compliance with the regulatory rules and codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Dealing with assigned caseload in an pro-active and compliant manner • Managing assigned caseload to ensure that work is being processed correctly and in a timely, efficient manner. • Implementing the agreed strategy, policies, processes and procedures of the Claims Settlement Team. • Making early and accurate decisions on the value & technical aspects of claims within the handler’s range of experience and authority limits set by Claims Management. • Screening incoming post and tasks so that it can be dealt with in order of priority. • Ensuring that data for management information purposes is sufficient, accurate and timely to enable monitoring/accurate reporting. • Adherence to personal performance targets through monitoring and proactively managing own work queue to ensure the overall section and company targets are met. • Gathering & analysing all the critical data captured for fraud indicators and working with internal fraud teams to ensure maximum detection of fraudulent or exaggerated claims. • Undertaking file reviews, projects, assignments or duties as management may require from time to time.
