Head of Underwriting, Commercial Product Liability Reporting to the Underwriting Director, the ideal candidate with have a strong technical underwriting background, ideally 7-10 years plus experience, across commercial product lines (fixed assets such as plant machinery, medical equipment, agricultural equipment)

Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to deliver an established business plan, strategic scalable growth within a 3-5 year plan and risk appetite • Draft and implement product strategy in line with the overall business plan • Lead an underwriting team on all underwriting aspects relating to that line of business • Solid technical leadership across risk assessment, pricing, policy maintenance and loss analysis within pre-defined authority limits • In-depth knowledge of a commercial product lines in a B2B context, eg. - fixed assets such as plant machinery, medical equipment, agricultural equipment. Also in a B2C context across niche lines, eg. jewellery, fine art etc. • Responsible for day to day underwriting of one or more product lines and providing sign-off for business cases provided the underwriting Team • Conduct product and account analysis to determine appropriate product structure and product pricing in line with underwriting guidelines for both existing and new clients. • Underwriting sign-off of policy and endorsement language prior to Compliance sign-off

The Ideal Candidate:

• A minimum of 10 years’ in a Lead Underwriting role, with in depth knowledge of the product line • Demonstrable track record of profitable transactions and generating business growth • Demonstrable experience in writing and executing underwriting business plans • Strong analytical skills and numerical aptitude will be essential • Excellent integrity, values and honesty. • Results driven and strong influencer and champions continuous improvement and value add change. • Adept at networking, relationship building, and collaboration • Broad operational skills and experience in underwriting, including budgetary management, financial management, claims, resource allocation, etc • Excellent verbal , presentation and written communication skills, with the ability to work well in a small team environment • Recognised Insurance Qualification and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business/work experience For more information and a confidential discussion about this Senior Insurance Underwriting Job, please contact Estelle Davis on +353 1 6621 000 or email
