Financial Controller | Global Professional Services Brightwater Executive have been retained to appoint a Financial Controller for a global professional services firm. The appointment is for their Dublin offering. The business now requires an experienced, hands-on and commercially-focused Financial Controller to set up and proactively lead the Ireland finance function; working with key stakeholders of the firm, support teams and central finance functions based across the UK and Europe. As a key senior hire, the successful appointee will significant contribution to the management of the Ireland operation. Responsibilities: • Financial support for the local management team which will include creating the annual budget and quarterly updates, interpreting centrally provided financial data on KPIs including around billing and cash • Developing an Operational focus in line with experience and capabilities in support of the CMP and other allocated resources • Local credit control for escalation on older debts • Maintaining the local accounting records, processing transactions and journals, providing monthly analysis on figures in standard format and preparing the annual consolidation package for Ireland • Business Partner accounting including induction of new partners, processing of leavers and ensuring stakeholder capital arrangements are in place. • Leading the local financial management function, with assistance from central finance • Providing assistance with the production of bills including ensuring compliance with local legal and tax requirements; • Producing local management accounts in conjunction with the central finance function • Provide information as necessary to the central partner accounting team • Recruiting and managing finance team members. External / Internal interfaces: • Maintaining relationship with the local bank for day to day transactions, reporting monthly cashflow forecasts and ensuring any excess funds are remitted to the central treasury team • Find a supplier and manage payroll services via a cloud based solution • Liaison with central accounting teams and the Global Services Centre • Maintaining relationships across all banking partners • Liaising with the central Treasury function regarding cash control • Managing the relationship with local auditors and tax advisors Controls: • Ensuring all key balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis; • Reconciling inter-firm balances monthly • Completing the Monthly and Quarterly Tax and Controls Checklist • Ensuring an adequate system of internal control and compliance with Group accounting policies on a range of issues. Regulatory: • Ensuring that Irish accounting rules are complied with • Local tax and regulatory reporting including transfer pricing, VAT and liaison with external auditors. • Ensuring all local statutory reporting requirements are met and exchange control regulations are complied with. • Completing and submitting VAT returns Experience: • Accounting qualification and a demonstrably successful in a comparable position (e.g. Head of Finance, VP Finance, Group Financial Controller) for 10+ years • Solid understanding of contemporary Finance practices in a professional services firm • Significant experience in the finance function of an International organisation; • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, local accounting rules and local statutory reporting requirements • Comfortable operating in sometimes ambiguous situations, demonstrating a flexible and collaborative personal working style • Comfortable multi-tasking and working to conflicting timescales on multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment For a confidential discussion on this Financial Controller appointment please contact Orla Brennan at Brightwater Executive on 01 6621000 or email your CV in confidence to Ref: 9217525
