 Head of Compliance, Ireland and UK  Solid compliance background of 8 - 10 years +. Excellent opportunity to join a company with strong core values and a superb culture and ethos. Proven track record in operating at a senior compliance (control function or pre-approved control function at PCF 12 and / or PCF 15 ) level within the Insurance sector ideally.

Key responsibilities

• Oversight and leadership of the compliance framework and plans for regulated entities in Ireland, UK and European and APAC regional branches via a hub and spoke model. • Ensure cohesive compliance strategy in line with group best practices & policies, legal and regulatory requirements: • Work closely with VP Global Compliance in Global Head Office to ensure the company’s global compliance practices and reporting are complied with • Provide advisory, oversight and assurances that necessary controls & systems are in place • Provide solution orientated recommendations against any gap analysis issues. • Shape, lead and evolve the compliance and regulatory strategy and framework for the UK branch and authorisations of the UK legal entities Liaise with the Central Bank of Ireland, FCA, PRA, MAS, Financial Ombudsman and other regulators and trade associations as required • Ensure robust management of prudential and conduct risk and act as key liaison against any queries from regulatory authorities • Manage compliance reporting to the Boards of the regulated entities. • Undertake quarterly compliance reporting to the relevant Audit and Risk and Compliance Committees • Ensure the company is compliant with (re) insurance regulations, relevant commercial regulations, legislations, supervisory guidelines and company’s policies • Periodically review the compliance framework to ensure effective delivery against annual Compliance Plan and risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan • Carry out Compliance Monitoring visits with internal and external outsourcing partners and oversee the handling of any compliance issues / complaints, keeping the Managing Director updated on remediation actions • Carry out due diligence on new business partners, maintenance of various risk registers etc. • Drive and manage compliance training for cross functional teams along with pertinent regulatory update debriefings

The Ideal candidate profile:

• BA or equivalent / post third level qualification or equivalent level of qualification • Ideally 8 - 10 years’ experience in a compliance / risk related role of which at least four years’ operating at a senior level in a regulated entity. • Adept at operating at an executive level with the Board of Directors, Regulators • Effective and inclusive leadership style, strong client centricity and experience in the re/insurance industry ideally • A sound knowledge of Irish, UK and European legal and regulatory requirements • Natural relationship builder with ability to work with cross functional sales and technical teams • Solution oriented with a pro-business / compliance balance mindset • Highly motivated, organised individual with a natural flair for continuous improvement and delivery-orientated results. • Ability to proactively manage stakeholder expectation and effective in a matrix reporting / cross jurisdictional team structure • Highly articulate and strong presentation and written skills Brightwater Executive has been retained by our client for their Head of Compliance Appointment.
