Securities and Accounts Analyst

Overview
My client is a global insurance company and they develop and distribute insurance and investment products into the European market. They now have a vacancy for a Securities Analyst to join their asset department and the purpose is to undertake due diligence, review terms, and agree operational procedures for proposed new custodians and asset managers as well as the on-boarding and review of non-standard asset investments from a variety of EU territories. The team is also responsible for ongoing control and monitoring of custodian and asset management procedures as well as the training of back office functions in agreed processes. There is also a focus on transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting obligations.
Key responsibilities include:
• Completion of comprehensive due diligence and assessment of risks associated with proposed new custodian and asset manager relationships as well as proposed non-standard asset investments. • Liaising with distribution channels (internal and external) regarding non-standard asset proposals • Working within agreed frameworks for asset reviews and reviewing relevant prospectus, term sheets and legal agreements • Preparation of comprehensive reports to the Board/investment committee on review findings • Establishing procedures for the opening of custody accounts with newly appointed custodians and provide training and support to the operations back office. • Developing strong relationships with our counterparties and distributors • Develop knowledge and understanding of the business and financial reporting process. • Undertake and assist in regulatory trade activity reporting and monitoring. (knowledge of EMIR reporting is an advantage) • Maintain flexibility within the department, assisting colleagues where possible and if work load demands.
Knowledge and Experience:
• A Third level qualification (or equivalent) • Previous experience in financial services or investments e.g. experience in investment portfolio administration and/or the offshore life assurance industry • Knowledge/experience of the features and operation of financial instruments, including derivatives, and the associated risks • Knowledge of basic legal principles is desired or some experience in the assessment and review of business contracts/agreements (custodian/asset management agreements) • Excellent communication skills (English).
