Group IFRS Accounting Manager

Key role for an exceptionally strong Technical Accounting Lead. This will suit someone who enjoys IFRS implementation work in a re/insurance industry and has a keen interest against IFRS 17 and how to apply best assessment, design and implementation of the new IFRS standards. Key member of the External Reporting team reporting directly to the Programme Director for Group IFRS Reporting.

The Role:

• Group technical person responsible for researching all new and existing IFRS accounting literature, and advising of the impacts and issues facing the Company. • Working closely with the Group IFRS 17 & US GAAP key participants in the implementation programme to ensure adoption of new standards is documented, tested and implemented efficiently • Assist in the design and monitoring of a commercially and regulatory sound plan / adoption, engaging all relevant stakeholders (e.g. CFO’s, actuaries, Internal Audit, Audit Committee). • Work closely with Group to implement any new IFRS accounting policies and ensure systems are configured appropriately to capture all data requirements; • Ability to advise, compare and contrast all differences in U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting requirements related to all aspects of the Company’s financial reporting under IFRS, including reinsurance accounting, investment accounting, issues related to Group consolidations and disclosures; • Review of any IFRS presentations and review of IFRS financial statements and disclosures; • Review any other externally published data presented under IFRS; • Monitor subsidiary and branch compliance with the Company’s IFRS accounting policies • Assist in the development of an IFRS Group Accounting Manual. • Preparation of materials for CFOs, CAO and Group Controller to ensure all stakeholder are updated with new IFRS reporting requirements, hot issues and issues being discussed at IASB Committee level, • Ownership of the Group IFRS general ledger, ensuring established policies and procedures are adhered to and supervision of the Group IFRS consolidation process; • Delivering, or organizing, any relevant technical IFRS training;

The Ideal Candidate:

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA – 7 plus year PQE, Big 4 / senior financial reporting role within re/insurance • Solid IFRS with 3 /4 years practical experience of specifically applying IFRS in the (re)/ insurance industry; • Significant practical experience of reviewing and interpreting new IFRS accounting literature and determining the impact on financial reporting, systems and processes; • Practical experience of dealing with issues related to tax, capital, investments and reinsurance accounting in an IFRS environment; • Experience of U.S. GAAP in the (re)insurance industry would be beneficial in order to be able to compare / contrast differences in accounting requirements; • Must be highly motivated with a proven ability to manage project deliverables at a senior level and ensure quality in every aspect of reporting; • Experience of an IFRS implementation project in the (re)insurance industry would be beneficial; • A good network of IFRS accounting contacts in the (re)insurance industry to compare views and ideas would be beneficial; • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to deliver key messages on complex topics and adjust granularity of information to the target audience; • Project management capabilities; experience in managing projects in a multi-cultural context over different locations; • Self-starter, strong collaborator, highly organise, dynamic and hard- working • Highly articulate and strong presentation skills For more information and a confidential discussion, please contact Estelle Davis at Brightwater Executive on 01 662 1000 or email
