Underwriting Assistant (F.T.C.)

A new job opportunity has arisen with a leading global insurer for an Underwriting Assistant, initially on a 4-month contract basis with a view to extending. This role will sit as part of an established and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting underwriting data to ensure accuracy and appropriate recording of risk, exposure, and reinsurance data on internal systems.

Data Entry and Quality Control

• Administers accurate and timely logging of data onto the relevant systems • Monitors own performance against team’s SLA’s and KPI’s • Maintains all user defined databases for underwriting unit • Support various month close procedures as directed • Administers Document Management processes to correct standards

Customer Management

• Regularly meet and have open dialogue with the underwriting assistants, to ensure that their service levels are being met • Underwriter feedback is captured and where necessary, acted upon. • Raise important or critical business issues to the Team Leader • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times

Team Work

• Seeks and communicates with management opportunities for continuous improvement within processes and procedures • Prioritise work and gives a good level of attention to detail to ensure team quality and timeliness targets are met • Be an active member of the team meetings, sharing relevant information with colleagues and contributing positively to the team’s objectives • Raise salient business issues to the appropriate management level

Professional Development

• Under the guidance of the Team Leader make measurable progress against the development framework • Commit to and demonstrate progress towards professional qualifications (e.g.ACII) ? • Seeks to further develop an understanding of Underwriting and target business? • Maintain documented evidence of progression towards achieving annual appraisal objectives. ?
