Finance Manager / Head of Shared Services

Our client is a very well-known and highly respected Irish charity providing services to over 2,000 clients. The role of Finance Manager / Head of Shared Services covers the full responsibility for the annual budget and income generation of over €5m per annum. You will support over a 1300 income generating volunteers nationally. The role will also involve Treasury management, Group insurance, Managing statutory contracts, Governance and Compliance, Company secretarial as well as fully supporting the senior management team, the General Manager and voluntary Board members.

Purpose of Role

Working closely with members of the Board, General Manager, Colleagues and Volunteers, the Finance Manager/Head of Shared Services will play a key role in the establishment of the Shared Services Operations team which will include the Finance, Fundraising, Back Office Support and Facilities teams. The role will require consistent high-quality standards, while managing a diverse team to deliver on the charity's strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to robust accounting policies and procedures, which ensure accountability and transparency over the spending of the charity's funds. S/he will also be responsible for the delivery of high-quality back office support which is driven and managed by critical KPI’s. This role will have full P&L responsibility for targets for the charity. S/he will support the development and implementation of customer service agreements, ensuring that the team meet their Branch-facing responsibilities. They will work closely with the General Manager to build a culture of employee engagement and continuous improvements to ensure that a high-quality service is provided to all stakeholders.

Duties:

Overall responsibility for the financial wellbeing of the charity (income recognition, diversification, and maximization; expenditure and compliance gatekeeper), the implementation of controls to maintain professional standards, the safeguarding of the charity’s assets and management of a complex matrix of income. Finance business partner for Fundraising – management, staff, and volunteers (Corporate, Community and Committed Giving) to maximise and diversify income streams and so sustain improved operational activities, to support an increased number of clients. Designing and implementation of income forecasting models based on current activities and trends, ensuring completeness of income, and managing key statutory and non-statutory donors Partnering with Operations to drive efficiencies, establish and maintain standard costs, identification on non-value-added activities; management and compliance control for Health Service Executive (HSE) and (DoE) statutory funding ensuring compliance with grant conditions and expenditure controlled. Management of bank reserves of €8m and group company pension scheme Member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Organisation Data Protection Officer, Complaints’ and Child Protection Officer, Health and Safety Officer. Managing a balanced scorecard and KPI dashboard for management and Board members.

Experience, Education and Skills

Qualified Accountant with 10+ years of relevant experience. Experience of utilising the strength of an organisation brand for charity/business development. Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client, and donor relationships. Experience of developing and implementing strategy and business plans. Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation. Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups. Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and/or its services. Knowledge of the fundraising environment
